WH: you havn't come out of this looking very good mate - even if their is underlying circumstances the main gist of this issue has you on the wrong side of popular opinion.

It's also not helping you asking the mods to shut down something essentially you started... just a thought.

I regret the upset that has been caused and have stated this many times in several threads
Popular opinion is being driven by ourage over alleged abuse that did not take place
Be careful that you respond to what actually happened rather than the easy option
Of course I expect you to read both sides then make a decision

However I have serious misgivings about this discussion taking place in a thread about mods
I did not ask the mods to shut down something essentially I started. THe discussion thread was closed down
I put a post on this thread, about mods, complaining firstly they'd shut the thread down, then allowed posts to be made about the issue on the mods thread

The lack of action by mods means that this discussion is breaking out on several threads, rather than a single thread

I am trying to put his into some context where I can go 'Mr Hunt, you have a point' but I can't

The position of shirts in a part of a stadium is particular to football in other countries. It's not an issue with any other sport in NZ nor part of our culture. So let's act like dicks and try to be tough and emulate some dickheads overseas cause that's what they do. I do think that if you are to go stand in the zone, sure, make an effort to find something yellow but if you have nothing, who cares. If you pay the same price as everyone else and are supporting the same team as everyone else, does it really matter what colour shirt you have on? I know they had an issue with what toilet you used back in the 60s if you had wrong colour skin and while this is not that same, there are some similarities. The fact that this is a 6yo old girl is just pathetic and ridiculous. If you abused my grandson at a game, regardless, you'd know my response very clear probably with a punch in the gob.

We are trying to get people to the game and grow Phoenix crowds, promote football and be family friendly where possible. This does nothing at all along those lines. It's bloody sport for crying out loud, not who won world war fudgeing 2.

I think if you have an issue with what colour shirt someone wears, it's you that should check yourself and move away.

Please read what I've said repeatedly. My opinion has never been anti-shirts

I didn't act like a dick, when talking about the banner/blanket. I had a conversation with the adult behind the banner/blanket, we disagreed. There was no verbal abuse, unless expressing my opinion that "it's unacceptable" constitutes abuse

What have references to racism in the 60s and World War 2 got to do with this argument?

In truth, I found your general manner offensive.   Your associate, who spoke to me after you, at half-time, was offensive.

The chants were offensive to my family. Other people around you found them offensive and expressed this.

The abuse I got as I walked past your party at the final whistle was offensive. The Man Utd guy was made to apologies to me by the stewards.  You had left at this stage and were not involved.

The final incident of  abuse after 90 minutes had nothing to do with you, but it had nothing to do with the blanket either. It was an unprovoked attack.

I don't think anyone actually cares what was said and in what manner. It's the fact that you were stupid enough to say anything at all. You guys had an issue with a 6yo girl having a red blanket. Read that again. Not anything rude she did or said - for owning a red blanket. That's unbelievably fudgeing pathetic. What would you have done if a disabled kid had a Liverpool sticker on his wheelchair? Abuse his caregiver?!?!? Would you go to a netball game and have a go at women in the crowd if they didn't have the right colour top on? Don't give us this 'but it's what we do at football in England' garbage. If that's the case, stuff off back to England. It's not what anyone does at any sport in NZ.

I can't believe you are trying to justify this in any manner. Fudgeing unbelievable.

One last point. What if that had been the Ronald McDonald House Family your lot abused? Unlikely but you never know who you're talking to.

.

sorry to say lord vader your opinion is a little off i witnessed the disagreement and the chanting and it was not directed at a 6 year old, you make it sound like the people were in the girls face giving her a hard time the group chanting were around 6 or 7 rows below the family with the blanket, and yes it was a blanket but the child did not put it on the railing.

i am not taking sides just letting you know how it was, in their own way both lots of people were in the wrong at different times during this arguement and after, putting false information in their posts to make it seem worse than it was.

security sorted the problem reasonably well i thought and that should be the end of it as security are paid to do the job of sorting out problems at the stadium they did this. if the abuse was as bad as you are saying i am sure security would of dealt with it alot stronger than they did.

that is all carry on with the witch hunt people. and just to let you all know i do not know any of the parties involved just what they look like.

My daughter did not put up the blanket, that's not really the point. She was upset because she thought she'd done something wrong.

If I am to follow your logic, Who was the chanting directed at? Me? Then I take great offense at the initial chant. As do my relatives.

The second chant referred to sticking the flag up your ar$e, well I had no flag. My daughter did have a Liverpool blanket though. I wasn't even standing behind it, it was 4/5 seats down. My other family members were though.

You must also add to this the fact that I was abused after 90 mins, I was simply walking past, I did not ask to be chanted at, pointed at, sworn at and told I was a disgrace and a bad parent for bringing my kids to a match after their bedtime.

It is very difficult to know who was in the right or wrong without being there. Having a six year daugter of my own, I do however have to pose the question, what on earth was going through your mind taking her into the fever zone? Was that just a major cluster fudge?

So it is right to verbally abuse someone after 90 mins? Do you really need to think about that?

Grandma is over on holiday, we all went to the match together.  All three of my kids have been in the zone before I have a season ticket. There was another girl of similar age sitting right behind us, plus there were quite a few other youngsters.  I don't/didn't see it as a problem - each to their own.

I'm sure there is no ban on them and newgolddream you are correct "each to their own".

Saying all that you were somewhat naive I suspect in placing your daughter and now grandma in that situation. A fever zone could probably wait until the age of 10? Now it probably has bad memories

Just a suggestion for your (Mods) consideration.

The Asian Cup 2015, a major tournament, is presently hiding In the General Discussion forum. Two levels to drill through to get there.

Could the following be considered:

1) Create a new permanent category for "Tournaments" in the "Worldwide Football Discussion" menu and move the Asian Cup 2015 thread there;

or

2) Create a temporary category for each such event like the Asian Cup 2015 there (in "WFD") and move it / remove it / after the tournament.

Thanks.

Hey mods, just thought I'd let you know that the forums are now being blocked at my work because of the TAB ads (comes up with 'gambling' as the reason why I can't get on to the site). I can get on to the homepage, I think because there is less TAB stuff there. Just can't get on to the forums because of the TAB odds at the top.

Not the end of the world as it means I actually get some work done! But thought you might be interested to know. I think we've recently had our filters beefed up a bit as I was able to get on to the forums up until a couple of days ago.
