No idea, do they have to wait for all teams to finish their last games?  Will keep trolling the fifa.com page anyway.

I'm fairly sure that only one of 3rd E & F can get through. So, by my reckoning, the games featuring 3rd placed teams will be thus:

Portugal v NZ

Ghana v Mali

Ukraine v Senegal

Serbia v 3rd E/F.

Then again, I was always crap at this at World Cups 86-94, so I'm probably way off

(Edit - Found the Tournament Rules online, and worked out where Senegal & Mali go)

I'm really stoked Colombia are going to be playing in Wellington, they are one of my favourite teams, so will be at the stadium to cheer them on. Then on Thursday catch the bus up to Hamilton and watch Portugal take on yet to be confirmed opponent.  Pax on my ticket says 3131.   Am keen to sit with other forumites if they will be in attendance :-)

I've just realised that it is possible for 3rd in both E & F to qualify; so, if Nigeria v Hungary is a draw, and both Fiji & Honduras win, then ignore my last post

Means that the attendances will be higher as more people will attend the games after work. Makes sense to me.

That is a fair point, but for me I would want to watch the other games as well so more likely to stay at home

I agree also, having three games at the same time like that could minimise crouds instead of increase them...if people are keen they would have the day off work...NZ vs Portugal, Brazil vs Uruguay, Germany vs Nigeria at the same time?  Mmm

When one of the teams playing at 730 is the host nation is just plain fudgeing dumb. A lot of people will want to watch nz v Portugal live. The more people after work argument doesn't stack up when on Wednesday there are 2 games at 4 and 2 at 730. Why not Thursday?

Probably didn't bank on us making it when they did the scheduling.

Also... times are probably selected in part with international markets in mind.

I can see this NZ v Portugal game selling out. Everyone I talk to in Hamilton are buying tickets. People who usually never go to sporting things, the hype is building.

I am obviously very happy that Serbia won the game (harder than I expected to be honest), but the moment I jumped off my chair to celebrate, I realised how cruel this was for that Hungarian chap.  He probably came to NZ dreaming of great things, and now this happened to him...Family, friends and the whole nation watching. This game can be very, very cruel.

It can be cruel indeed. But also happy the Serbians won thru, I think they've looked good from what I've seen at the stadium and on telly.

I'm shark at betting. Just for fun put a $1 multi bet on all 8 round of 16 games - 1 bet for each game, mixture of head to head and half time/full time etc. Didn't make it past half time in the first game.

Just below the horizontal calendar, there is a "group matches" link and a "second stage" link. The second stage link provides a nice pyramid graphic.
