Also I would like to add this link below, this will add all the scheduled games to your calendar. Just select your timezone, download the ICAL format then open the file and it should add it to your calendar.

Could probably start a thread for betting tips but who do people like for top scorer? Thinking someone like Falcao could be a good bet having had a good season and with a weak looking group where he could get a few goals. Thinking back over the World Cups I've watched (1998 on) Ronaldo in 2002 was probably the only one where the most obvious one did it.

What teams are you most sad about not being there?

For me it's Chile & UAE.

Chile have been fantastic for many years now and dead unlucky last World Cup in knockout stages. If they qualified, they'd be a chance of going far. Plus, they have maybe the best anthem.

UAE got a great team, and would've been good to see Omar Abdulrahman there.

(also Scotland & New Zealand, but, if either/both were there I'd be a nervous wreck about the comp right now).

So what's the best way for us non-sky subscribers to watch the world cup? Fanpass for a month? Any alternatives with actually decent coverage?

Prime TV will screen quite a few games.

World Cup of wages: if average club salaries of the 23-man squads indicate 'quality', this is how the 2018 World Cup pans out. (And a short piece on why that's unlikely).

Just pulled Morocco out of the hat in a workplace sweepstakes. Its amazing how easy you can get behind a team when you don't already have one to follow at an event like this.

Please pass on to your partners

Dear Sweetheart;

The FIFA World Cup begins on the 14th of June.

During this period I won’t have a lot of time for you. It’s not that I’m cheating or no longer wish to be with you, but I will have to make every effort to watch every single match.

I will not be attending any social events such as, weddings, parties etc. during this period so plz DO NOT ASK!!!.

I know you see it as only 22 men chasing a ball but it’s absolutely important that you keep such thoughts to yourself and do not express them during this period....

Here are a few guidelines (I won’t call them rules although you know they are) to ensure a smooth and argument free month:

1. Don’t say it’s just a game because it’s not!

2. Plz limit or avoid walking during matches

3. The remote control remains with me all the time

4. You support the team I support. Not the team that has guys you think are cute

5. Kindly place your phone on silent

6. Never, ever walk in front of the TV while I am watching a match!

7. World Cup is played by countries only so plz don’t ask me which team is Arsenal

8. Finally, highlights are considered important as matches, and they are just as important as the match itself, so yes I must watch the highlights as well!!

Thanks in advance, we look forward to your cooperation and your utter silence.

Sincerely yours

Nothing in there is gendered, it's not the quite the old "wives and girlfriends, listen up!". It's still not funny in any way.

Wimbledon men's final is on around then too, though that might be moved earlier perhaps.

Definitely seems like there's been slightly less interest in the build up by the New Zealand Media to this world cup, but I guess that's the way of the world these days, only once something starts do people take a big amount of interest in it. Stoked Australia v France is in the best timeslot for us possible.

I'm planning on grabbing Fanpass for a month. The 'playback' feature sounds perfect (it's great being unemployed at times like this).

jeez the Fox goes over board with its ads ay. if you watch this, note the lack of players at the world cup which is references or shows. This is hilarious. But I'll admit, I'm a bit more excited about the WC after watching this.

Incredible by the Spanish FA! I find their line of not knowing he was taking the RM job a bit rich as RM had been negotiating with them to pay his release clause. I think someone is trying to save face rather than do what is the best thing for the national team.

stole this from a twitter account called @oldfirmfacts1

As some random Morrissey lookalike prepared to perform a Robbie Williams medley, Tyldesley wryly intoned “FIFA’s information sheet says Robbie Williams is from the homeland of football…Stoke on Trent”. Impressive work from the organisers, securing a popstar at the very height of his popularity and relevance to open Euro 2000.

Just looking at List of FIFA World Cup records and I see that Richard Wilson still holds the record for most consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in qualifying, with 921 minutes, 9 consecutive clean sheets.
