To help kick off this seasons competiton, I'd like to point out that Stockport County won 3-0 at Yeovil. 20 years ago they were pretty much in the complete opposite positions. Yeovill being in about the 7th tier and Stockport in what is now Div 1 or in the Championship. Is this the "Fall and Rise of Stockport County"?? I hope so.
FA Cup 2018/2019
Holy Crap, QPR actually won a 3rd round tie at the first attempt for the first time in 19 years...and against the might Leeds who are going for EPL promotion too. 4th round, away at Portsmouth.
We've got Sheffield Wednesday at Stamford Bridge. Haven't played them in any comp since 2000.
Chelsea have drawn ManU for the 5th round of the FA Cup, making the whole draw quite weak from here.
Arsenal are gone, Liverpool are gone, Spurs are gone, one of Chelsea and ManU will be gone after the next round, so come the quarters there will only be 2 teams from the "Big 6".
AND, there’s only actually 4 other EPL teams left from outside of the big 6, and 2 of them face replays to even make the 5th round yet.
It’s very feasible that half of the quarterfinalists may be from outside the top division.
Reckon we might see a surprise finalist this season, depending on how the draw falls.
Or it could end up still being Man City v Chelsea or Man United :(
If we get past Portsmouth, we have Twitford coming for a visit.
