Timbers poor season start continues, 3-0 loss away to previously pointless San Jose.

Prior to this game SJ Earthquakes had been sitting on a -12 GD. Portland now bottom of Western Conference, with 1 point after 5 games.

Last season's MLS Cup GF appearance must seem an age ago.

Tuiloma 90 mins as a CB.

Timbers with a pen miss. Tuiloma with the Jerry Collins ("pint of Guinness") haircut.

90 mins at the heart of a back three, as Timbers lose 2-1 at Dallas.

Portland's 5th loss on the trot.

Soccerway tells me they have all been away games. Not sure if that's true.

Full 90 for Tuiloma, and a 1st win of the season for the Timbers as they get off the bottom of the Western Conference with a 3-1 win at Columbus Crew.

Tuiloma is one Kiwi who won't be leaving his MLS club anytime soon you'd think.

90 mins as a CB as Timber's turnaround continues with a 2-1 win away at Real Salt Lake.

Portland have now won 3 in a row, after 5 losses in a row earlier!

90 mins in a 1-0 loss at Vancouver.

Tuiloma almost scores twice with his head - one being an OG miss!

Anyway great to still him becoming almost a fixture now for Portland. Still only 24, so a real breakout season in the MLS and who knows. Nelsen was 27 when Blackburn signed him from DC United.

Though I presume BT is still without a Euro visa, even after his time in France?

Like it how for Vancouver home games, they close off the BC Place top tier, to  give it a better match atmosphere.

90 mins as Portland draw 1-1 with Houston in MLS.

https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/05/15/highlights-houston-dynamo-vs-portland-timbers-may-15-2019?autoplay=true

Note to date Timbers have played all 11 MLS games away. Not until round 13, that they will be at home. That's a lot of hotels, and of course a lot of airports, the US having largish travel distances.

So a heap of home games at backend of the season, could see them climb the table.

A 3-1 win at Philadelphia Union.

Tuiloma 90 mins.

Pretty decent turnaround after a horrible start to the season. Good to see Tuiloma become a regular in the first team this season too, by all accounts has been performing solidly of late too. Good stuff.

Not too sure about the reason for all the away games first up (stadium redevelopment/unavailability?) But the upside for Portland is that they've got 22 games left in the season - 17 of which will be at home. Now that's a pretty favourable run in, week after week after week of traditionally strong home support! I'd expect them to be moving up that table pretty quickly.

Didn't do my research, but looks like they've just completed an $85USD redevelopment of Providence Park.

If continues to perform very solidly may come onto radar of a few clubs in Europe.

Still young at 24, and already has experience in France. Speaks French.

Different to say a Michael Boxall, who is probably too old now to ever get a look in over there (at a highest level anyway).

I'm guessing that's $85 million US, otherwise they really cheaped out on the redevelopment.

And we wonder why those bloody construction firms are going under...

But yes $85,000,000 USD was the figure I was trying to get across, whoops.

I'm hoping it is midfield for the all whites (when they play) but I haven't seen enough of him to know for sure

Disappointing opening to Portland's revamped Providence Park.

Lose 2-3 to LAFC.

Still LAFC are a quality side, and lead the Western Conference by 9 points. Only 1 loss in 16 games.

Timbers now sit 2nd last, only 2 points ahead of the Rapids, but have played 2 games less. They also have a huge amount of home matches now, after 12 consecutive games on the road.

Tuiloma subbed after 60 mins (injury apparently). Seemed to lose his man for LAFC's 3rd.

Bill's on the comeback!

Played the first half for Timbers II against Sacramento Republic in the USL, picked up a yellow card too. Has been replaced at half time as the 2nd half has just kicked off.

Hopefully he's come through his first test unscathed after a decent injury layoff.

This game was a battle of the Kiwi coaches in USL.

Elliott's Sacramento (8th) beating Knowles's Timbers II (5th) by 1-0.

Saw that too, wonder if they'd be up for putting their names in the hat for the vacant AW's position?

Timbers climb to 7th in the West. Galaxy drop from 2nd to 3rd.

Fickle nature of injuries, opportunities etc.

A few months ago, Boxall was languishing on the bench, someone gets injured and he gets promoted back to starting. With Tuiloma the reverse has happened.
