This from Martin Devlin....hopefully after he paid his bills.

Hey Liverpool...get over yourselves!

You came 2nd. Read it out loud 'til it finally sinks in.

SECOND. You finished second.

You are the best ever losers in the English Premier League.

All this worldwide whingeing and whining from the club's fan base just has to stop. Manchester City won the title because they were the better side over 38 games - it really is that simple.

The team with the most points wins and they earned more than you did.

Now this isn't some bitter twisted rant from a Man United fan angry at another season of underachievement from his own shower of sharke.

I'm the first to acknowledge my mob's inadequacies.

This is merely an attempt to get you lot doing likewise.

"But we got 97 points" they bleat, "no other team has ever tallied that many and came second". True enough, no they haven't.

But so what? 97 wasn't enough. Nor would it have been enough to win the league the previous year either.

"But we only lost one game all season long," they whine on. True again.

That's why you thoroughly deserve the honour of being best ever runners-up.

Unfortunately, unlike the Olympics, it doesn't come with any silver reward - City took that home because they were crowned Champions. Only 3 teams have ever led the Premier League at Xmas and failed to go on and win the championship.

Liverpool in 2009, Liverpool in 2014 and Liverpool in 2019.

But it's the self-entitlement that I find most offensive. "We deserved to win" cry the scousers.

No you didn't. Several times during the campaign you had the chance to put this thing to bed and on each occasion the pressure of expectation became too much. Faltering draws against Leicester, West Ham, Everton and Man United proved ever so costly.

After losing away at Newcastle on January 29, Man City were 7 points behind.

From that moment on they won a record 14 straight games to close out the season.

During that run they scored 32 goals and conceded just 4. In a word - ridiculous!

City also took 4 points off Liverpool in the two games they played, beating them in Manchester and drawing at Anfield only because Mahrez skied an 85th minute penalty.

I'm not making this up, these are legitimate facts.

Plus I never heard a skerrick of empathy come our way when City pipped United to the 2012 title on goal difference. That's right, not by achieving more points, they won only because that year they scored more goals.

So harden up Liverpool and accept the fact you lost to a better team.

Because right now you're sounding like the EPL equivalent of the 1995 All Blacks.

And no we weren't the best team at that tournament either.

If you check the record books the Springboks won the final 15-12.

"sense of entitlement"

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Most ironic words out of a ManU fan's mouth I've ever heard.

Yes he's mostly right and makes some good points, but all I'm hearing is his whinging, not the Liverpool fan's whinging.

Who actually said Liverpool "deserved to win it" anyway? Did he just make that up so he could argue it?

To be fair if my club had OGS at the wheel i would be lashing out in all directions as well.

I disagreed with it but struggle to see the offence that warranted deletion. Fits with the modern world I guess.
Meanwhile Leggys insulting people on a regular basis which is fine.

Let me start by saying that I wasn't the mod who actioned this, but I'll just offer a quick explanation as to what happened here.

The original comment from La9000 invited a reply that was, let's just say, highly unconstructive. So in an effort to nip the entire thing in the bud and not have it escalate further, both posts were taken down.

I wrote the reply in question. Whilst I don’t agree with the deletion, I do completely understand why it was done. I have seen worse posts allowed to remain, but forums have mods for a reason.

Sorry guys, I was the mod that deleted the posts. I saw the reply as playing the man, not the ball and also decided to remove the original post as thought it was likely to get another response. We try to monitor each thread but don't see every post and will miss stuff, then it is also a judgement call at the time if we hide posts or not.

If you feel we are missing something, please use the report button.

Sorry guys, context is everything eh - I never saw the reply, so assumed it was only the original post that had been deleted.

Seems understandable to me, and appreciate the responses.

Sorry guys spur of the moment and I really really dislike Liverpool.

Great thing about supporting the Nix I think is because we seem to be able to put our European club rivalries aside and just enjoy a game of football.

the interesting thing is I think Liverpool would have swapped the European cup for the league

And Manchester city would have swapped the league for the cup

Sturridge and Moreno have left the club at the expiry of their contract.

Frees up some significant wages, I'm looking forward to seeing what we do in the transfer market

We've made some huge revenue this season from TV money and that tied in with being profitable last FY to the tune of 100m squid will hopefully mean some good moves although there's an eye on developing another stand so that may cut in of course

I guess having the Ox back is like having a new player but wow, very quiet in the transfer department so far! I worry a bit since our front 3 haven't had much of a break at all and I still don't rate Origi (but bless him all the same).

I remember saying that on multiple occasions when he was at Arsenal.

Badly needs to stay fit if his career is going to go anywhere.

Brewster is seen as a "new signing" as well and on pre-season form, I can accept that. I'm most worried about our cover at Left and Right back at the moment. With Moreno gone and Clyne likely off, there is no real back-up in that area. Gomez can do a job but he's a better CB.

I'd always wondered why they didn't give Moreno some time on the left wing, his defending was suspect but his work rate and attacking ability was decent.

Totally agree on Moreno. LW rather than LB for sure.

Apparently Clyne busted his ACL against Dortmund and likely to be out for most of the season.

How do we feel about that result Reds?

Great first half, cruise control second half.

Pros: Seeing Gomez start at CB, Origi with a great goal, Firmino was rampaging, Fabinho's work in the CDM

Cons: TAA caught out once or twice, their goal (Origi let him go), finishing (could have been 10 - 1), Alisson out for a few weeks at least.

Overall, very happy and with Gomez and Origi starting it gives me a bit more faith in our depth. Still a touch worried about the full-back positions and now the keeping position.

Adrian injured by a pitch invading fan. Bizarre. If he’s out a few weeks and Alison is back by then, his entire Liverpool career could end up being a two week stretch going from unwanted free agent to penalty shootout hero and winning a European trophy, to all done and dusted. What a roller coaster!

So quiet in here!

Pretty crazy game yesterday. Seems we're a bit loose at the back at times at the mo. Tough return for Gomes, he looked a bit behind the play but to be expected I guess, Matip has been so good of late, Gomes may struggle to get much big game time this season.....

Tough one against Leicester coming up, they're gonna be well up for it. Wouldn't be surprised or too worried if we drop points this weekend.
