Verona fans may not appreciate the slant on this, but none the less I have blogged about the Derby della Scala, contested between Hellas and Chievo, set to be resumed this season in Serie A:

Charles Ducksbury? I thought Tim Parks was il buteo #1 inglese.

Just got back from Italy a  few weeks ago. Seeing Verona beat Caliari at the Bentegodi, in Serie A, in person... priceless.

You've got Roma in the early hours of Monday morning... I'd love to come in here and tell you you're getting spanked but I think it will be a good game. Jorginho is a big loss though, he has been one of the revelations of this Serie A season and I hope he doesn't rot on the bench at Napoli with the midfield they've got... Marquinho coming to you from us as a replacement - solid player but he hasn't had a lot of game time for a while...

Love Luca Toni soooooo much. Any time you want to give him back I'd take him in a heartbeat.

We've got Balzaretti out for a while yet (just had a hernia op) but he's our only real injury gap at left back.

My prediction: 2-1 to us.

Daje Roma and /=\

It's so odd that Tim Parks' book got me into being a gialloblù when their ultra-fan base are notoriously fascist/racist. Oh well.

You should read the Castel Di Sangro book (still can't get a copy, here OR in Italy) or even better Stamping Grounds by C. Connelly (about the Liechtenstein football team's road to WC a few years ago) - both teams have a nice reputation than Hellas fans...

Might need to swap ya for another book? If you read my reply to this post here you can choose any book!
You can add to that list:

When the dream became reality by Bobby Warshaw and

Small time: a life in the football wilderness by Justin Bryant

:D

I'm happy to donate it to you. I originally got it from a Uni lecturer many moons ago, and never got to return it to him, so I'm happy to pay it forward in this case!

That would be amazing mate - that Joe McGinnis (from memory) book is very hard to find for some reason. Went back in June/July as is out of stock everywhere, not even my dad could find it.

Seriously though, if you want any of the above books sing out.

Out of curiosity, was it an Italian lecturer?

An Australian one.

PM me the address you want me to send it to, and I'll put it in the post later this week.

Going pretty well so far, 10th on a table of 20 after 7 rounds, defying predictions of immediate demotion

Meanwhile the Flying Donkeys are at about the same level in Serie B :D

Probably something like Cagati addosso

Good win - Verona are doing very well - they're being likened to Atalanta who are now a powerhouse in Italy.

Not bad at all. Now if their supporters would stop acting like a-holes, you'd have a pretty good club.
