Pochettino would be excellent for you guys in my opinion. Will surely win trophies if he gets to spend ManU level money.

Talk about kick a guy when he is down and how short a memories have you United fans got? Big name managers after SAF failed miserably. Now they have a young one whom did bloody well last season and after a mediocre start, everyone wants him gone?? SAF started poorly too and was one loss from being sacked. Look what he went on to achieve. Harden the fudge up. Give OGS a break and a chance to sort it.

These guys are good players. They just need a bit of confidence, someone who believes in them, and a chance. And I will take someone with the mentality and mindset of a United player over an expensive "trendy name" any day of the week. I think that's what our club thrives on!

I think you've got plenty of trendy names, who were bought for trendy money, but still totally agree with what you're saying there. You and I have both been parroting this for a while - the players are good enough, no doubt about that. Needed the right Manager and the right mentality. Feels like they've got that now.

Stand by that 100% regarding the players. Its no coincidence that guys have been leaving and playing better elsewhere.
It felt like the right fit when ogs started and threw a bunch of wins together. Then we beat you and youve never been the same since :)
Turns out ogs just got the dead cat bounce, I think you were right about him in hindsight leggy, and I most definitely concede that one.

So lets be clear here. You're saying Solskjaer is at least the equal of Pochetinno in terms of managerial ability? Is that correct?

No I haven't said that at all. What I am saying is that Pochettino has fallen into the exact same rut which proves two things:

a) It happens to good managers - in which case the jury is still out on Ole (given he has an even worse team) and

b) There's no guarantee Pochettino would change anything at United

I'm also saying that putting the knife into Ole based on the footballing ability of Fred and Mata isn't fair.

I certainly haven't said anything about sacking Ole, just that we can't lay all of the blame on Woodward/Glazers for the football we are playing right at the moment. As long as the current directorship and football governance model is in place and results/performances don't improve we are stuck in this impossible cycle where everyone calls for the sack but then a new manager inherits a squad that's not his, asks for 5 signings, gets 2-3 and then gets the sack when performances aren't right. At some point we are going to have to stick with someone.

I agree that hopping on the managerial-go-round is a great way to waste time and money - but given some of his selections, substitutions, and tactics, questions must be asked.

Are the coaching trio of McKenna/Carrick/Phelan a good fit? (in my mind, no).

I think the Club bringing in, say, Arsene Wenger, to act as an adviser for OGS would be a good start. Give Ole the proper people around him (not coaches who are on their first proper job), and give him a mentor who isn't a leftover from the Glory Days (TM)......then give him till the end of next season, and see how things are.

As I've said before, Ole clearly needs more time but I feel he is clearly the wrong man for the job. But at least give him something to work with.....

What's happening presently takes me back to 1973-74 when United were relegated just 6 years after winning the European Cup - poor decisions re Managers (Mcguiness then O'Farrell) , and some questionable transfer spending. Took a relegation and Docherty (yes he was in charge when relegated) to get things back on track. Whilst I don't think United will get relegated I have a bad sense of deja vu at the moment

There's a case to be made that all any club can hope for in this Pep-Klopp era is to position yourself to challenge when they bugger off. The question is whether you really see OGS as the man to lead the charge in a few years time, rather than just a popular face to tide things over while you figure out what you're doing next.

Funny, that's not what he said.

"Like I said, Manchester United is a dream job. For any coach. I have confidence, I have courage...and you're right, I have ideas." - AW, last month.

No comment on whether I actually want him or not. Really have no clue where to land on OGS now.

We could do a lot worse - he knows how to work under financial constraints (Arsenal with their stadium, us with our ownership), knows the PL inside and out, and could help Martial and Rashford improve (I'm only guessing on that one, based on his work with Henry and RvP who greatly upped their game at Arsenal).

If United got Wenger in for a specific purpose to assist/mentor OGS, then why not give it a go?

I think if Wenger wanted to come in as a mentor to OGS why not? Nothing can hurt at this stage.

In terms of actual on field tactics, could we possibly look at inverting our triangle and only having one holding midfielder in the middle of the park instead of two? McTominay at the base shielding the back four, with Pogba and one other in front if him (Gomes/Lingard/Mata/Pereira)

I only mention this as I don't think our defense is anywhere near as awful as it was last year and and our struggle at the moment is scoring goals, we need to keep teams on the back foot and adopt a more attacking mentality.

I'd just love to see us getting back to how things were looking pre-season. High intensity, high tempo and a great team press from the front. I know it was pre-season but it just seemed so much more positive.

Also out of interest, I challenge anyone to look at the last ten games Ashley Young has played in and watch him closely every time a goal is scored against us. It's a horrifying watch, out of position 95% of the time.

At least we would know all about his b/s ing as he had years of practise on the Arsenal supporters.(sorry, excuses)

Claims that Allegri has been spoken with, and that Pogba would be keen to stay if Allegri comes.

Now that's a Manager that would scare the rest of the league.

I can't see us in the top 10 based on what I've seen so far this season. It took literally one week (watching the Chelsea game) for the rest of the league to figure us out. I don't think we'll go down but a lot of people online just saying "we're United, we won't go down". No club is too big for relegation.

If we did sack Solskjaer which I think is unlikely right now, Allegri would be my choice. Erik ten Hag, if we were going to try and get someone already in a job. But again, it's a new manager inheriting a squad that's not his and you just run into the same old problems.

I was in the UK when we were relegated in the 70's, weirdly the season in the 2nd division was a a huge amount of fun. But thats pushing 50 years ago and we should never end up back in that situation again

Pereira's game tonight might have saved his career.

Rojo probably ended his. I hope Tuanzebe is back next week.

Rashford played well, looks like he's finally not over thinking things.

Fred wasn't absolutely dire.

Can't wait till Martial and Pogba are back.

Better than I expected, thought we would get thumped.  Have to wonder if they would have done as well with Pogba in there. Sometimes I dont think he plays with enough intensity and that was needed today. Feeling a bit frustrated we couldnt hang on to win which in one way feels hopeful.

Mostly just a vent.

But, if you look at their goals this season there's been a fair amount of sharkhousery and opposition teams missing sitters.

Nice tackle from behind and got away with it, even scoring from the resultant breakaway. A friend of mine in Aussie said the referee got a Rolex for his performance.
