Watch it again, you'll see the somersault he chucked in to try get extra points. Origi took a shark touch then tried to draw a foul, ref made the right call there.

Rest of the game, you may have a point but he got that one right.

Compared to what the VAR has ignored against us in the box and last man this season...

Rashford gets tackled like that 10 times a game.

After reading some comments on here this morning I had to check with the wife to see if we watched the correct game this morning. I also took another look at it and it was almost the same as I remembered it.

Reality is we are not on the same page as Liverpool. If anyone disagrees I suggest you watch the game again. We certainly played better than I thought we would but we certainly did not deserve to win. The first 10 mins we looked good and Liverpool were terrible.I know that stats don't tell the whole story but I kept on all game about how poor our passing was. I just checked the pass accuracy and there it was.

Utd 67%  Liverpool  84%   The A league teams have a better rate than 67% We were absolute crap in that department.  68%  Liverpool possession to our 32 % just about sums it up.

If we are to challenge for the EPL in a couple of years then at least six of those that played today will definitely not be there. I  have been a passionate supporter of Utd for more than fifty years but I don't wear rose tinted glasses.

Last but not least. If in any doubt have a look at the EPL table and you will see that Liverpool have won 8 games---- we have won 2. Nothing more to say.

I don't think they look too flash at all. I think their lucky goals are going to dry up very quickly.

Is this a parody

Mostly just a vent.

But, if you look at their goals this season there's been a fair amount of sharkhousery and opposition teams missing sitters.

I watched this game and you were not even close to the same level as 'Pool, even on a bad day for them.

Not really what I'm saying but, "not even close" based on the fact that they passed the ball around and went no where? Ok then.

Just in terms of actually playing football, and the fact you were at home. 'Pool are just clearly a class above. (a couple of classes above Arsenal too!)

Looking forward to the game on Friday. I assume we will go back to a back four. Should be a tasty atmosphere and a good test for our young players.

Well that was pretty average yet again but you've got to take the points and the lifting of the away curse and move on. Our first touch was dire in that second half in particular. We just could not keep possession. Brandon Williams well and truly the stand-out for man of the match in my book. Can't wait to see Ashley Young come straight back in for Norwich. Last sentence may contain sarcasm.

Well, finally an away win and a decent performance. My thoughts:

  • Best midfield display of the season. Thought McTominay was excellent aside from his error for the Norwich goal, Pereira I thought did well and Fred improved although still has the occasional major lapse in concentration
  • Rashford looked a different player for having Martial back in the team and moving out left. The interplay between those two is exciting and promising
  • Glad the two pen misses didn't cost us. Did anyone else just know they were both going to be saved?
  • Reasonably solid at the back but Ashley Young is a major liability defensively. I would have brought Williams on when Young got booked, if not earlier.
  • The Norwich goal annoyed me more than our goals excited me. At that point they were down to 9 fit outfielders, a central defender who couldn't move playing up front, and an injured goalkeeper. Once we conceded it looked like we were going to concede again. We need to keep clean sheets!
  • One win and now the table doesn't look so dire. We've got to back it up against Norwich.

Back to a 3-4-1-2 tonight with Rashford and James up top. Big opportunity this for Lingard to start turning his season, and possibly United career around. Excited to see Williams start again in place of Young. Think we can give Chelsea a really good go tonight, let's have it!

Have to say, given the XIs both sides are playing I'd be disappointed not to win here.

Rashford getting his groove back. Great to see a smile on the faces of the players again too, even if it is only the Carabao Cup, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge ain't no mugs.

3 away wins on the bounce, and a bit more confidence ahead of the trip to Bournemouth this weekend.

Already being talked about as goal of the season. The flight of the ball reminds me of Ronaldo v Portsmouth 2008. Probably not quite as good but absolutely special nonetheless from Rashford.

Certainly can't complain about the result, but the passing is woeful, and the possession poor.

We still need a few more quality players as some of ours are just are not good enough. Chelsea were not fantastic but we definitely  need to improve.

Honestly I think AWB is the signing of the season. Okay, his attacking output isn't perfect but he's made clear strides in that area. Otherwise he's one, if not the, best defensive player in the league. Has he made a mistake this season?

Missed a tackle and got a yellow vs Norwich!

But I was still never concerned about a 2nd yellow, and I don't think there's many other players I'd say that for with the tackles he was making - not many modern players with that level of accuracy going off their feet to make tackles.

Just now:

Oxford United v Man City

Man Utd v Colchester United

Aston Villa v Liverpool

Everton v Leicester

Best possible draw for United.

Saw a good stat yesterday; AWB has made 10+ tackles in a single match twice already this season, the last United player to make 10+ tackles in a match was Patrice Evra in 2012.

Started brightly at Bournemouth but it's just meandered off into almost nothing after that first 10-15 minutes. Doing absolutely nothing in possession from that point, it's all just a bit slow motion, it's flat, it's just not United... Conditions are right sharke, but I'm getting the same feeling from when we went to West Ham earlier in the season - Sucker punched with a goal from nowhere right on H/T and then struggling to get anything going in the final third.

C'mon United!

I cursed AWB, sorry.

Also, not an excuse for losing but, another terrible refereeing performance. The "highlight" was at one point Rashford was fouled and received treatment, the defender was given a yellow, and the referee still made Rashford leave the pitch.

As for us, every week we learn another player simply isn't good enough. Today it was Pereira.

Young banned for a game next week. Hopefully we can start Williams and we'll never have to watch Young again.

That was terrible. Bournemouth were poor - we really should have been winning that comfortably. Lindelof and Young were shocking, Pereira somehow was even worse. You look at the bench and there's just nothing to bring on to change the game. Pereira had to come off but we could only bring on Lingard who was just as bad. Greenwood is going to be class but we can't keep dragging him on at 75 minutes and asking him to change the game at 18. Squad depth lacking big time.

Spurs absolutely crushing Red Star Belgrade away from home, now watch us put in a dire performance and struggle past Partizan (10 points behind Red Star in the Serbian league) tomorrow morning.

It's often watching the other English teams in the Champions League when it really hits me how much of a rut we are in right now. Spurs might be struggling in the league right now but their squad and style of play is miles superior to ours.

Spurs have had a settled manager and squad for a long time. They've got depth. They aren't doing well, perhaps due to overplaying of players and transfer rumours, but they have some fundamentals United would love to have.

Can't believe the side Ole has put out!! Any man and his dog can see McTominay and Fred need a break and he's gone and played both of them! I would have put Young at RB for Wan Bissaka and brought Williams in. Surely Williams is fresh enough for two games in 4 days (Fred and McTominay played 3 in 7).

That is why he is a poor manager. Mc now injured.

If he doesn't start them and we get beat he's a poor manager.

You could make a better argument for giving Martial and Rashford a rest. But they went on and scored.

We've won. Game was enjoyable. It's an important competition for us. We continue.

Could argue either way, in the end we got the points we needed but McTominay, Maguire and AWB all looked to have picked up knocks. Let's hope they are OK for Brighton. I'd be tempted to start Rojo over Lindelof.

Perhaps, however the last 1  1/2 months have not been great.

The FACT is his performance has been poor. He plays people out of position, he makes subs with 10 min to go thinking they will change the game. Lingard, Fred, Mata are still playing. He let Lukaku go without replacing him---- by the way Lukaku has scored 9 goals in 11 games.

The proof will come in January if he can sign quality players and turn this mid table team into the top 6. That is very unlikely.

It is not just the tabloids that are saying this. The fans are as well.

Sacking Ole would be silly; talking about it is also silly. He has moved the club forward and he can move the club forward even more. Only when we think he can't move the club forward any more should we sack him. The club needed a refresh. It didn't need someone to sign Ibrahimovic and limp into the top 4.

Lukaku didn't fit the style Ole wanted to play. I'm glad he has gone. At some point we will need to sign a striker who fits our playing style and is committed. Until that happens no point in signing someone random. Realistically, it will be 3 seasons before this squad can compete for a title anyway.
