"The Herald understands that the OFC executive was considering a vote of no confidence in Chung at that meeting, so his move may have pre-empted any such vote."

Yeah, nah, I agree. Nothing to this. A big misunderstanding. All I can see is some honorable football administrators doing honorable work for the good of the game. Must be a beat up. Can't believe this is even getting any media coverage. Hope it doesn't hurt that nice Mr Putin's World Cup.

https://www.oceaniafootball.com/key-decisions-made...

As a result of its deliberations, the OFC Executive Committee took the following decisions:
  • Until the OFC Congress in June 2018, no interim OFC President will be appointed. The OFC will be led collegially by the entire Executive Committee until an election for the position of President is held in June. The elected member will serve out the current term of OFC President, which concludes in 2019.
  • The report resulting from an audit into the OFC Home of Football construction process conducted by an external audit firm, on behalf of FIFA, was analysed by the OFC Executive Committee.
  • In light of the report findings, the OFC Executive Committee has appointed an external lawyer to lead an internal investigation into potential wrongdoings and to take legal action, if required.
  • A forensic audit has been ordered to review, in detail, the processes taken in relation to the OFC Home of Football and the financial processes adopted by the OFC Administration in past years.
  • The OFC Executive Committee has pledged to cooperate with all relevant authorities throughout this process.
  • In order to address the suspension of funding from FIFA to OFC, the OFC Executive Committee has agreed to implement all the conditions set out by the FIFA Audit and Compliance Committee as soon as possible.
  • OFC will set up a reform committee to review the current OFC constitution, policy and practice activity. This committee will be formalised at the OFC Congress in June.

If it's about the development of a home of football, I reckon there is a good chance of contracts being awarded to friends/relatives without proper tendering process.

Edit: it basically states that in the Stuff article

Chung denied the allegations in a letter to a member of the OFC board, the Times reported. The audit found that Chung, without issuing a tender, had hired a company with no experience of the work required for the design of the project.

"To a large extent that, to my mind, justifies the place of Wellington in the A-League. We have a responsibility to keep football alive in the Confederation we abandoned, and indeed I’d take it further. As the A-League expands and acquires a second (and one day a third) division, why shouldn’t there be an Auckland team to create an NZ derby?"

This guy isn't wrong. Also from his story...

New Zealand might have to be convinced, now that they are all but guaranteed to play at every World Cup Finals going forward, but the opportunity to join Asia (including the Asian Champions League) should be a major enticement and they’d still be a fair chance with the likes of China, Thailand, North Korea and American Samoa to take one of the 5.5 places.

I agree. Even though it will suit us soon in WC qualifying, NZF should be selfless and aim to wind up the Oceania confederation and be in a 'West Asia' confed.

I would love to see this happen but not sure the overall mood for change exists across FIFA, AFC and OFC.

So he pays a pretty small fine (for someone of his stature), waits a bit and then can work on football again? That's what's wrong with Fifa... They should make an example of him and anyone else dealing and wheeling, but sadly they're a money making machine and corruption is rife.. Shame.

We played 2nd fiddle - to the other OFC nations who are surely more resource strapped than we are, but they at least are organising matches and getting their teams together.

Surely Aus and New Zealand can start up an annual fixture. It doesn't need to have the top internationals but could be a "B" team game - one that would get the public interested and keep the "All Whites" brand in the public eye

I reckon the All Whites brand is just plain unreliable these days, you cant go playing second string players or not commiting games every windows and accept that it will make the brand look good. Retire the legacy and just call it the Mens National Team and use black as our main jersey.

Oceania confederation ordered to pay $412,000 to Auckland's Home of Football contractor

Now, in a judgment released Associate Judge Warwick Smith says it is claimed that the confederation paid for flights and accommodation for its staff and their families to travel to China for Chung's wedding, and the confederation is said to have made a $10,000 cash gift to Chung.

The judgment relates to a payment dispute between the confederation and construction company ESSL.

In June 2018 ESSL said the confederation owed it $558,000 for six unpaid invoices dated between February and April last year.
