An individual on this forum is giving the strong impression, by using a Torquay United badge and using the name trauts that they are in fact me, Stuart Moffatt.

I am not this member, please stop implying you are me. Whoever you are.Very funny.

ps if you'd listen to Moffside you'd know I'm not that busy producing it!

I guess it’s just amusing seeing your enthusiasm to write “neutral” opinions fade like the Uni season - similar to the Uni write ups. Lot of hyperbole early doors just need to ensure you keep perspective and not let the “total football” blur your observations.

Too busy with Moffside

Wow - who is this? Please desist

Yet all you've managed to do is bring up a conversation back from August back up. How do we know you are the real Stuart Moffatt

I thought this was a place to chat about all things football ? - not to act like a knob when someone has discovered they are being spoofed on here and just wanted to clear it up so people knew

So clear it up with the Mods, just found it strange that his way of clearing it up, is to bring up a conversation that has long past.

according to Comet Matteo MARANGON was the Physio and he wasn't playing - although it seems like not many of the Southern United side were playing as they went down 5-0 to Tasman

suppose having to fly DUD-CHC-NEL and then get a bus to Belnheim didn't help

Stephen Lawless is also their S&C coach (and may do physio work to?). Had played 33 minutes before today this season.

Whilst Steven Lawless is the Strength & Conditioning coach he is a genuine footballer in his own right. That said it is clear several of the Southern players lack fitness and perhaps his efforts would be better spent rectifying that. The performance yesterday was diabolical. Players are being forced into unfamiliar positions on the pitch and that is showing with poor technique in the new roles, hesitation and poor positioning generally. Thank goodness that is the only two times we will have to watch Southern United on tv this year. Both games they have been awful and while no doubt the youngsters in the squad will cop the blame for that, they have been more truthfully let down by poor performances from the senior players and inept tactics from their coach.

No doubt that travel schedule will form the core of another barrage of excuses for dropping the ball against Tasman again this season.

Where's the Norwegian lad they signed, and Ben Deeley?

Wonder if it's a managerial fudge up or the team just isn't up to scratch

Wingate looks good but has only started twice going off injured at half time in both & made a brief appearance off the bench against Auckland. Where is Ben Deeley ? Hard to believe he can’t make the squad. They seem to favour Spain who is clearly and repeatedly showing he is an athlete but not a defender. Maybe better suited to a wingback role but that would mean a formation change, something the coach seems unwilling to do ......just like the up and under down the right wing to start every single match.

No doubt injuries are hampering the squad. Cox would add huge solidity to the midfield or central defence. Neil, Wade, Anderson, Kiore, .....no shortage of lads capable and worthy but coach prefers his S&C coach over them. Hard to see true local development when decisions like that are being made.

HaHaHa all brave talking sh*t on here aren’t you all eh

Southern train three nights a week at Logan Park head down anytime and say it to the coaches and players faces

It’s easy to say it on here

I thought this was a place to chat about football stuff not the place to be sledging people left right and centre

I'd imagine some of the conversations at Logan Park this week within the squad will be a lot tougher than the rants on here. I have no doubt they'll be taking a long hard look at themselves.

How embarrassing,  Southern united seem to be on a slippery slope at the moment.

That's a shame. They seemed to be a new force to be reckoned with going by all accounts in pre-season.

They recruited well and started the season on the right foot but seemed to have gone downhill after being deducted those three points.

I must say I've seem bugger all Handy this year but from what I'd read early on I really thought they'd be a top 4 side.

I wonder if they can pick themselves up or not.

Well they are currently 5th and had they sorted their paper work correctly they'd be in the top 4

There is only 7 points that cover positions 3rd to 10th so in reality anyone could end up in the top 4 behind Auckland City & Team Wellington.

Fair enough so the wheels haven't fallen off quite as badly as it seems from reading here.

Good to know - was kind of hoping for them to challenge the two powerhouses in order to spice things up a bit (like ES did last season), plus they have Joel so how can you not cheer them on!

Joel's left - he was only ever signed until December, gone back overseas to look for a pro gig

Actually 8th on 9 points and only 1 point ahead of the last placed Weenix. Two of their last four games have been 6-1 & 5-0 losses.

ahh you'r right I looked at teh app I use rather than my own records and they obviously haven't taken the 3 points from the Tasman game off

Still not the only one with bad results - the have Canterbury next and they lost 6-1 on Sunday, a couple of good results and they'll be back in there - look at Hamilton, they were terrible at the start of the season, have won 4 in a row (incidentally since Riki stepped down) and now third - truth is outside of Auckland City and Team Wellington the standard is pretty average (and thats being nice) this season

11 games into the season and with 7 games to go, without the Tasman result being reversed Southern would be 4th!

Some of the local doom and gloom merchants and the criticism of the team and the performances is a joke

Not sure when before Southern were at the level they are considered now nationally

Feels like nothing will be good enough for some

Went down to watch them play Eastern Suburbs today and they look a different team to the one that was looking so good when Joel Stevens was playing. Suburbs are looking vastly improved, but Southern seem to have players in various positions that are not at the level required. 6-0 drubbing tells the story.

Stevens left a huge hole no doubt there. Some very strange selections today. I understood Ollie Collotty was the player of the tournament at the recent 16th Grade NAGT. A player they rushed to debut in the Premiership last season despite carrying a wrist fracture. He has not featured at all. They bought on a sub today who is just back from injury......and then took him off injured a few minutes later. Collotty left on the bench.

Today they debuted a 16 year old who had a very limited involvement in the National Youth League.

At the risk of another telling off from 7th Fed - one really must wonder what the hell is going on. Al-Khalisy and Panzer apparently released or have they fallen off the spreadsheet ?

Looking at there line up they looked down on numbers. Eastern Suburbs continue to be Southerns boogey team.not sure they have picked a point against them in four years.

And didn’t the young 16 year old do well when he did come on, great debut and excellent shift from young Sam.

Eastern Suburbs are on of the best teams in the country. We weren’t good but they are a completely different level.

Okay ZG . I did not criticise Sam (it’s a huge moment for such a young lad)  I just pointed out the element of surprise where another player would seem a more logical selection given his form & previous development. Yes Suburbs are still very tidy despite being a shadow of last seasons team. Two weeks ago Tasman did that to Southern too though.

someone at Mosgiel told me that a few former Southern players have been getting some strange advice from someone - this guy is using these kids for his own personal vendetta against Southern - guess he gots his way now the coach is gone

Typical agenda driven football.

There’s a few home truths that need to be learnt, some people still believe the franchise was in a better position before Paul’s arrival. Finishing last with two points over two years and starting a give a little page to keep it going was the preference to an academy and increasingly better finishes on the table.

Personally I think this is an absolute shame. Paul and his team have done nothing but push and give since arriving against blatant cronyism and a status quo. A few people got their nose out of joint as a result of change, but the changes were needed.

still awaiting the positive feedback about using locals.

I want to thank Paul for his work and efforts over the past 5 years, I just wish Football South was able to give him and the other knowledgable and committed people a platform to improve most aspects of football in the region, not just at the elite levels. The academies and elite teams have certainly improved but cant say the same about much else.

The franchise has improved, but I am not so sure about the federation.

I think the improvements that have been made at the youth and development levels have been offset against the deterioration of the senior leagues and the overall football player base. Everything still seems disorganised and while acknowledging the improvement of the Southern team, the national league going back to club based means it has almost come to nothing.

FS administration from the Board and the CEO needs to be looked at, too many pet projects and not enough accountability. How many people on the FS board, 100s, what are their roles. what one is the one that is accountable for grass roots development or something? If what Paul is saying is true why isn't their a plan in place locally regardless of what happening nationally?

Wish Paul and his family all the best.

Sadly there has been a distinct separation of SU/FS and the local football.

It was great how it all started, FS did an awesome job to gain funding and resources to bring it all together. I was seriously impressed.

I felt the "The hearts and minds" were not won. It seemed that the cronyism was with "SU" especially with the isolation of local football.

The many imports, were given FDO and other jobs but chose not to play locally. There seemed to be no FDO Development or interaction with the clubs or grass roots football. Maybe wrong but it did seem that all coaching was through the fee paying academies or holiday programs.

In hindsight FS could have been stronger and set its expectations higher. Even if Paul is fundamentally right it has been one of the best resourced SU teams.

Cynically it was expected that this would be the last year as FS reserves are probably all now spent.
