a pretty decent line up there. Simon Elliot in top form, Smeltzy sharp, Ryan Nelsen...

Not surprised as it was entirely unforgettable.

Although sticks firmly in my mind the stuff about Jackson. First time I ever heard the C word haha.

Ummm... are you referring to the Hungarian national team? Or to those Wellington Hungaria players who went on to play for the All Whites? Or to the Hungaria club itself?

In Peru at the moment, and a bit of stuff on local TV about their own 'Rory' moment 2 years ago against the AWs.

Am I correct in saying that both Keith Nelson and Ron Armstrong were not included in Adshead and Fallon's 1981 World Cup plans because they couldn't commit to the training requirements for work/business reasons?

Both went straight back into the All Whites environment under Allan Jones in 1983

Not sure about Keith, but Ron put his work before football.

An 0-0 with plenty of drama.

Watching this again, and of course remembering the Bahrain game - will be a real shame if 'big' AWs games just completely disappear from NZ, with OFC World Cup having an automatic qualification spot.

March 2022 being only the chance see Joe Bell or Sarpreet Singh EVER play a real high stakes match on home soil in NZ, through their careers, would just seem like another missed NZ football opportunity.

Hopefully some AFC/OFC Nations League can get off the ground, with Japan, Sth Korea, China, Socceroos all then a chance to play in NZ. Sure not in the same breadth as an Intercontinental winner takes all playoff, but better than beating the Solomons Islands 6-1 as the biggest match in your 4 yearly international home Calendar.

I'm behind the goal (the one with few spectators).

My first visit to AMI Stadium.

Good memories.

I'd forgotten exactly how good Wee Mac's goals were that night.....

The second one late in the game especially was worth the wait.

Hey there everyone, I'm planning to try and get highlights of more games uploaded to my All Whites History channel during this lockdown period as there'll probably be a wee bit more time to do so.  There's currently over 100 All Whites matches there already, including all that I have up until the end of 2010 (please note that I can't upload anything from World Cups or Confederations Cups because they get blocked by FIFA).

So basically I'm looking at putting up more footage from 2011 onwards - so please feel free to write your suggestions and requests on this thread, and I'll do my best to get those games up.  I figured requests is as good a way as any to decide what to start with, so tell me the matches/memories you'd like to see and I'll do my best to make it happen.

And it's also as good as time as any to visit and subscribe to the All Whites History channel - thanks in advance :)

Love the videos KM. Problem is that since WC 2010, AWs have barely played many games of note.

4 playoff games against Mexico and Peru, and one Confeds Cup in Russia 2017.

Some matches that might be worth putting up.

The 4-2 friendly loss to Japan, when Emblen was in charge and we came back pretty well after being down 4-0 in the first 17 minutes. Two nice goals for Wood. Debut for Boyd from memory.

Or for a bit of infamy, a loss to UAE (warmup to the 2013 Mexico playoffs) where Sigmund got sent off for a shocker of a tackle. Beat Saudi 1-0 the game before.

Also maybe a friendly against El Salvador (2-2) in 2012 where Ian Hogg (who?) scores a screamer, in Texas. Actually quite a good 2 game series that time Stateside for the AWs, beating Honduras 1-0 as well.

Lastly plenty of goals in a 2-3 loss to Jamaica at Mt Smart in 2012.

A few 1-1 draws against China to choose from.

Puzzling that Omar Abdulrahman (No 10 UAE guy with moppy hair), has never been picked up by a big Euro club.

A real talent. Guy can play. Was only 21 at time of this AWs game.

Though did see this on his Wiki page.

Manchester City trial

On 6 August 2012, Abdulrahman confirmed on Twitter that he would join English side Manchester City on trial.[36] After arriving to Manchester, he immediately joined the team training.[37] The trial lasted for two weeks, he played friendly matches and the report was positive but the deal broke down due to work permit and national team rank issues.[38] On 9 March 2013, Al Ain coach Cosmin Olaroiu stated "City offered him a four-year deal after training with them last summer, and that he would take them up on a second offer."[39] On 11 March, the club's academy chief Brian Marwood, confirmed that they are still interested in Abdulrahman.[

He's on a very comfortable deal/lifestyle in the UAE, and the suggestion has been that he's content in that bubble... but yes, excellent player.

Dire match though...
