Drove past and saw heaps training of what i assume were Olympic boys on the field. Easily 40. The small groups looked quite close together...The other field had much smaller numbers.

There was a time early when we had some doubts about lining up, especially when they were talking of a few midweek games.

As soon as that was resolved we were in.  It will be a scaled back effort from us as there isn't a lot of money around at present and travel to Wellington 8 times and Wairarapa once is not cheap.  However, the team is keen and we will be giving it our best shot, as we always do.

Draw due to be published on the 31st. Opening weekend for central league is 13th June. Capital senior leagues, including youth (U17, 14th, 13th iirc) start on 6th.

NW's (and the financial results for any incorporated society) are public. For the year ended 30/9/19 you can find NW's Performance Report here:

https://app.businessregisters.govt.nz/sber-businesses/viewInstance/view.html?id=229a78e05307b6d8bf1b29667f00cb17e5e0d5bca25184d2#scrollTop

For my 2 cents - looks a lot healthier than most clubs financials that I've reviewed. Decent level of reserves despite a resonably significant operating loss.

Looks as though they're planning to sell clubrooms and build something new at Alex Moore at some point as well (but the softball club aren't on board & legal action is occurring), and appears they're paying their director of football a salary of ~$100k (plus another $15k from the Junior clubs accounts), being the only unusual points I can see from a quick review. $30k loan as well, but doesn't say who from.

Not a lot of cash reserves was what stood out to me.

Yeah missed the significance of that at first glance.

Appears to be the main motivation for the loan - $20k overdraft if they didn't have it.. They aren't gonna be able to pay immediate debts as they need to so you'd suggest the settlement of the legal dispute and the sale of the clubrooms are very high priority for them - and then cross your fingers that the legal fees don't blow out.

At the end of the financial year they had a working capital deficit of $80k and given the events of the last few months the position is likely to be a lot worse. They have got serious issues before they even address the cost of funding their first team for the coming season.

The $54,000 wage subsidy for 13 staff they applied for will probably help....

The clubrooms deal isn't that great basically they sell the clubrooms (which are jointly owned with the Softball club) and I think 80 or 90% is given to the council who are building new clubrooms on the top Alex Moore park - where the Cricket club and Olympic harriers used to be based, but those clubrooms become a WCC venue and the club has to pay to hire them going forward - but hay all clubs in Johnsonville can use them (as long as they pay for them)

That just enables them to tread water. It does not address their fundamental problems.

Rovers playing local club Marist. About 7 regulars from last year out on the pitch. A new number 9 who looks like a import. Looks very lively and just scored a stunner of a bicycle kick. Very young kid in goal
