Frankfurt came from 3-0 down to close to 3-2 by 55 mins.

Cuisance and Zirkzee both got some minutes off the bench late. Coutinho still out injured

Can he switch teams? He would jump his bubble from 1st to 2nd team.

Be interesting to see if he's added any bulk to his slender frame. He said he was trying to do that during the enforced break.

And if he has, what will that do to his game?

Of course the Bundesliga has been in hiatus, but Singh hasn’t actually been in a first team squad now since Dec last year.

Patience required.

Soccerway have Liga 3, as restarting this weekend. BM II travelling to Ingolstadt.

Sounds like Marinovic's old Vancouver team mate, Alphonso Davies is going well.

It’s real easy to put on weight in Germany. I had three weeks in Berlin, ate lots of local food. Came home the wurst shape in my life!

this will hopefully be one of the few benefits of lock down. He has always been slight and I suspect in Germany that is not a good thing.

A number of weeks staying at that flash team digs with a gym is not a bad thing for mine

Bayern win 1-0. Kimmich with the goal.

They open a 7 point gap now over Dortmund, with 6 matches to go.

Hard to see them being pegged from here.

German double is on as well. Bayern host Eintracht Frankfurt in German Cup semi 8th June.

Singh's 'peers' Cuisance and Zirkzee were unused subs.

I wouldn't call Cuisance a 'peer' of Sarpreet's. He signed a five-year contract straight to the first team and had made 35 Bundesliga appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Well I put that comment in speech marks.

But he played a number of matches earlier this season, alongside Singh in midfield for BM II.

Also similar age at 20. Singh being 21.

From this week's Flying Kiwis.

"GERMAN BUNDESLIGA & FRAUEN BUNDESLIGA

As the first major league to get back into it after a pando interruption, the Bundesliga’s been enjoying some boosted support from footy fans around the world as it carries the torch. Sarpreet Singh’s Bayern Munich, to use the club’s full Aotearoa translation, have picked up where they left off with three wins from three to push themselves clear at the top of the table – including a crucial 1-0 win over Dortmund this morning. Singh hasn’t come close to featuring in any of those matches. He’s often picked up in training photos with the team but he didn’t make the bench in any of them, although that’s all par for the course, he wasn’t expected to either.

Before the pandemic Singh would train with the top side then play for the reserves but getting his third tier reserves reps hasn’t been an option lately. The same situation exists for the women’s Bundesliga which was also on an extended hiatus even after the to two male tiers in Germany had resumed. Money being a major issue there – keeping Meikayla Moore (MSV Duisburg) and Paige Satchell (SC Sand) out of action indefinitely as well as Jana Radosavljevic (Cloppenburg) a division down.

But there’s some good news on that front, folks. Not for Rado, because the second women’s tier has been cancelled... although with Cloppenburg sitting atop a five-team race to the bottom that’s not so bad for them. One point separated tenth from fourteenth but no teams will be relegated from the 2. Frauen Bundesliga this season so it doesn’t matter in the end. However both the third tier of men’s footy and the top tier of women’s footy have now been cleared to resume. There’ll be plenty of midweek games, especially for Singh’s Bayern ressies, as they try to cram everything into a tighter window but with correlating leagues around Europe being straight up cancelled they’re still in an enviable place. Germany’s done pretty well despite their geographical disadvantages and are ahead of the curve compared to most countries in that continent it seems.

Both leagues will begin this weekend, the final weekend of May. SC Sand are in a comfortable mid-table place with six games remaining although they do have a DFB-Cup quarter-final to play as well - that cup comp is still going ahead. Duisburg have more work to do. They’re only two points clear of relegation with seven matches still up their sleeve. As for Bayern II in the men’s third division, they can’t be promoted any higher since they’re a reserves team and they’re too good to be relegated so they’ll just play it where it lies. Singh has 7 goals and 6 assists from 20 appearances for BM2 so with eleven more matches left hopefully he can push those numbers into double figures.

Has come onto the bench for an injured Mai (defender).

And yes hopefully Singh can get some mins in the 2nd half. 5 subs in Bundesliga?

Dortmund play bottom side Paderborn away tomorrow.

BM II had a 2-1 win over Ingolstadt in Liga 3, to go 4th.

Marinovic's old pub football side Unterhaching are gunning for promotion to Liga 2, being 2nd on GD.

Finishes 5-0 to Bayern.

They make all 5 subs, but sadly Singh isn't one of them. Cuisance bought on at HT for Hernandez.

Debut off the bench for 19 year old midfielder Oliver Batista-Meier.

Bayern München II play Wednesday in Liga 3, so Singh must be good chance of playing in that game, unless some of the first team are injured.

This week's Flying Kiwis.

"Football is slowly coming back and no country has been more efficient about it than Germany, true to reputation. Not only have the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 been back for three weeks now but they’ve also as of this week brought back the third tier as well as the women’s Bundesliga. All of those divisions are leading the way compared to their respectives in other major European football nations. And the Bayern Munich reserves were streamed live on YouTube with a midnight kickoff on Saturday/Sunday, a wonderful way to see a bit of Sarpreet Singh in action, right?

Except that come time for the lineup announcements he was nowhere to be seen. Not in the starting eleven and not on the bench either. Was he injured? Nope, the mystery was solved a few hours later as the Bayern’s top side hosted Fortuna Düsseldorf and peep that familiar name amongst the substitutes...

That’s the fifth time that Singh has been on the bench in the league plus once more each in the Super Cup, DFB Cup, and Champions League. He had a little run at the start of the season before the transfer window closed and the club brought in the likes of Coutinho and Ivan Perisic, then he got a little run in December which led to his debut off the bench against Werder Bremen. Now he’s had this opportunity. Countinho, Tolisso, Thiago all out injured... and at a time when five subs are allowed by FIFA because of the tricky nature of trying to finish some of these leagues and the physical pressure that puts on players.

The game itself was nothing much. Bayern were way too good, they played some lovely footy at times and were completely dominant, taking the led early through an own goal before Benjamin Pavard headed in a second before half an hour was up. Robert Lewandowski scored on either side of the break and emerging Canadian hero and fastest footy player on the planet candidate Alphonso Davies hustled his way to a fifth after 52 mins. Easy to roll out the subs in that situation.

Michael Cuisance was first, replacing his French compatriot Lucas Hernandez at half-time which led to a little shake up in a few positions. Then ten minutes after Davies’ goal to make it 5-0, Ivan Perisic and Odriozola were thrown out there in a double change. Perisic you’ll already know, Odriozola is a young Spanish fullback making his second appearance of the season. With quarter of an hour to play, Joshua Zirkzee was thrown on. Dutch striker who scored three goals in his first 26 minutes of Bundesliga action earlier in the campaign. All players who either rank ahead of Singh in the pecking order or who play in different conditions. Leaving five fellas still on the bench and they weren’t about to toss on a reserve keeper or a couple of the veterans.

But when that fifth and final change was made it was Oliver Batista-Meier who was given a first team debut instead. The ninth time that the 19 year old has made the bench for the top side but the first time he’s actually gotten a run out there. So it goes, maybe next time. Here’s a screenshot of Sarpreet (bottom right) with the team afterwards at least...

Bayern went on to win it 5-0. There were no more goals and they maintain that hefty lead at the top of the table albeit with a couple tough games coming up. Bayer Leverkusen are next and they beat Bayern last time they played."

Full game and a yellow, in a 3-2 win.

BM II's winner came late at 88 mins. All other goals came in the first half. Fellow midfielder Meier, who debuted for first team on the weekend with a goal.

BM II up to 4th, but as they can't be promoted, are really just playing for pride, contracts etc. From memory at start of the season, they had been tipped as likely Liga 3 relegation candidates, so done well.

First side play Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga this weekend, and then have a German Cup semi against Eintracht Frankfurt next Wednesday

On the bench as Bayern win 4-2 away to Bayern Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

10 point gap now on Dortmund, who play later today.

Bayern were up 4-1 from 66 mins, and made 4 subs, so disappointing no mins for Singh. Zirkee didn't get on either, and Cuisance not in match day squad. Meier who debuted last week, back with the 2nd team.

Next up is German Cup semi final on Wednesday verus Eintracht Frankfurt.

Leverkusen play Saarbrücken (from German 4th tier) in the other semi.

Short odds now on a German double for Bayern.

Meanwhile BM II had a 1-1 draw in Liga 3. They played 80 odd mins with 10 men.

hope next year he gets a loan and a full year playing in the second division.

One year like he has had this year floating around between the two teams and sitting on on the pine is probably ok and potentially may have even been very good for his development

But two years would not

Not in matchday squad as BM II (2nd) beat Zwickau (16th) 2-0, in Liga 3.

English (though German born) 17 yr old Jamal Musiala, off the bench with a double.

BM II 2nd now only on GD, but they can't be promoted.

So Singh looks likely to be in first team squad tomorrow, for German Cup semi final verus Eintracht Frankfurt.

Lewandowski and Muller both suspended for next Bundesliga game this weekend, but not German Cup semi.

Curious as to why? I thought second team couldn't play in the same division as their parent clubs so technically couldn't play in BLII?

Or is this a specific BL rule?

In Germany, the 3. Liga is also the highest division that a club's reserve team can play in.

On the bench as Bayern host Borussia M'gladbach.

With Lewandowski and Muller both suspended, other normal bench players Zirkzee (playing as lone striker) & Cuisance both start.

Bayern have a total of 10 players out. Coutino still out injured.

Must be Singh's best chance of getting some first team minutes since the season restarted.

If Bayern win today, and then also beat Bremen on Tuesday they clinch the title.

Stays on the bench, as Bayern pinch a 2-1 win late.

Goretzka with 86th minute winner. Zirkzee with the other goal.

Bayern only made 4 subs, and two of them coming on, were big name players (Coman & Davies).

Wriedt (usually striker for BM II) also came on upfront, for Zirkzee.

BM II play tomorrow, so Singh may play for them.

But first team play again on Tuesday against Bremen, so he may be kept on ice.
