how was the game for the new Wests team? think they played BNU

Was a festival of football at Wakefield!!

We enjoyed the game and was an ok result for us.  We have a few new players from the team that's been playing in the senior grades the last few years.

We found ourselves 2 nil down to two goals we shouldn't have conceded and brought it back to 4-2 and then Brooklyn came back at us.  4 all was probably fair in the end.

Gutted to be missing the clash vs Dreamers today but rolled my ankle quite badly in the first game and it's still very sore so I have to sit this one out

4-0 win for Karori. Uni keeper had a great game.

that will be a good game, both teams have smashed us so far - not that it has been too difficult we are still trying to learn each other's names after being thrown together last minute.

Wharf will have a noticeable pace advantage over Brooklyn which could see them with a few more chances on goal I suspect.

Word on the street is Darren Cheriton has turned up for Wharf. Anyone care to confirm?

Seatoun went down 5/6-1 to Piney's Tawa, they have some very tall timber at the back.

0-2 loss for Seatoun, against North Wellington. Karori, Western Suburbs and NW are already making a strong statement for the top 3 spots. Could well be an interesting battle for the bottom 4 spots, two teams on 4 and the other two on 0.

up next:

Seatoun vs Uni at Anderson park

NW vs Wests at Alex Moore

Tawa vs Karori at redwood

Petone vs BNU at Petone

I was surprised by the Brooklyn vs Uni result based on our games against both sides.

What happened there?

We had a good game.

No rushing with the ball, we passed it around and try to play possession. We also didn't rush into tackles/winning the ball back but were patient and hit them on the counter. BNU were a bit off their game to be fair and possibly didn't have the best XI out on the park.

But we finally put in a good shift (we were also short of players and had most of our bench could only manage 35-40min due to injury).

First time we beat BNU since I joined the team and it was a great feeling. Now, if we could only do it against Karori :P

Seatoun managed to grab our first win of the season against a fiery Uni Stallions side, 1-0 after 20 mins, hard fought battle after that with no score change. Off the bottom of the table as the Petone Armanis lose to BNU.

Coup of the week and very surprisingly not from Wharfies - but Masters 6 Island Bay Internationals, who managed to get some bloke called Wynton Rufer to play for them against the BNU Pints. It was 1-1 before he came on and scored 3 goals and IBU International won 7-1!!!!

Rufer started the match, subbed off in first-half after completing his hat-trick to make it 0-6. Rest of match was 1-1, to make final score 1-7.

It's you that's feeding me the news isn't it?

We enjoyed a good win against NW Villa on Saturday on the worst pitch we've played on for a few seasons up on the top field at Alex Moore.  Changing room was are a container, no showers, and the pitch wasn't much bigger than the container itself.

I think we're all looking forward to the week off now!

Results in for this weekend, most interesting for me is the 0-0 draw between Karori and NW

VIC Uni 3 vs 3 Petone

Karori 0 vs 0 NW

Seatoun 3 vs 14 Western Suburbs (yes it was painfull0

BNU 3 vs 0 Tawa

Karori and Wests are leading the pack (both still unbeaten) and on 16 points each. Brooklyn and NW round out the top four. Petone gained their first point of the season, Seatoun, Uni and Tawa are only two wins away from the bottom.

next weeks game could be fun :

bottom of the table clash Seatoun vs Petone and top of the table clash Karori vs Western Suburbs.

Brooklyn take on NW with Uni hosting Tawa.

Was surprised by the Karori vs NW result as well.

Looking forward to the game against Wharfies on Saturday. Our third away game in a row! I believe 5 out of our 7 second round games will be at home on Endeavour which will be nice...

didn’t see the NW game but by all accounts they didn’t bring a very attacking mindset which has been pretty common recently from teams. Think the dreamers might have been pleased that it was one of the older adversaries that the steak was lost to. Shieldsys speech post game was a crack up I’m told.

But yes, surprising result for sure

yep one of the team has been contracted out by Dreamers management to keep a spreadsheet, but it is not referenced very often to be fair. Other teams seem to care about it more.

A little surprising (didnt see the game), but a fair few games I have played in it seemed like there was no chance we would get the W - we seem to have a charmed life.
