Games in the next couple of days will determine just how much is at stake in this game. If Brisbane loses to Sydney on Monday night, we have top 3 secured heading into this match. If Adelaide can beat City to keep their top 6 hopes alive on Tuesday, beating the Jets by a few goals will keep the door open for 2nd place.

Cmon boys. This'll be a tough one, but keep up that form from second half in last game and you can do anyone.

Our last game of the reg season which means my last comments too, until we are smashed out of the finals by WU and then kicked out of the league next year for not meeting metrics and replaced by Canberra.

Anyway long story short Jets to smash us again and put us in our place (5th) no other outcome expected 4-0 Jets.

Any word on Hoppers injury ?

Expect they might rest him for this game and we could see a front 4 of

 McCowatt    Davilla   Piscopo

seems reasonable, we'll need hooper in the finals series.

First Finals game is on the 22nd, so we have at least 9 days rest.

gives him heaps of time to fully recover - depending on severity

Have they said what it is yet? Looked like a hammy pull to me (having had three myself). Each of varying recovery times :-/

Hammy twinges can be tricky. Easy to damage further if play again too early.

The chances of finishing 2nd are pretty much gone, if they have to rest him until finals they will.

I guess difference between park football where most of us have played, is you have to judge yourself when you your ‘body is right’, and of course can enthusiastically over estimate that timeframe. Pro footballers will have a top sports physio monitoring their recovery every waking hour.

Roar draw vs Sydney, so the lowest the Nix can finish is 4th. Only Western United winning all 3 of their remaining games can stop the Nix finishing top 3 (something I didn't notice in my original post for this thread).

And he played on for quite a few minutes not right. May have done more damage then.

Hm.. Lets hope it's not torn. That's circa 6 weeks recovery.

Would like to see Payne start.

Have seen that out xg has been better than our opponents in all games except WSW since restart. Our finishing (and luck) needs to be better.

We can win by 1 and still end up second, If we win by 1 and MCY lose to the snakes by 2 we end up with +9 GD and MCY have +8. But winning by 2 or more means that we just need the snakes to beat MCY and the margin doesn't matter

If we beat the Jets, certainly then puts the pressure on City to beat WU in the last game. But if WU have already qualified for finals by that time then I can see them playing a B team against City with the final match only 3 or 4 days after that game. And WU dont appear to have alot of squad depth.

Best scenario is if WU need to beat city to make finals. So alot of results will need to swing in our favour.

City don't have to win, draw is enough for them to finish second.

y'all need to lighten up a bit! We are sitting comfortably in 3rd spot, preseason we would have been over the moon about this. The fact we as fans are disappointed by this says a-lot for the quality of play we have seen from the team this season. I'll bet they are equally disappointed with how the last few games have gone. They are gonna come out firing for the jets - Davila for one has said he is not happy with his performances.

No matter what happens, we are playing finals footy!!

Western need at least 3 points and have the Glory, Sydney and City left to play. So not a given that they will get the 3 points before they play City. Glory will want to win tonight, finishing 4th might be enough to get them into the ACL playoffs for next season. Sydney will want to try and find some form before the long break before their Finals game. And City will know exactly what they need to do to get 2nd place.

So its hard to know who I want to win tonight in Perth v WU match.

I would prefer to play Perth than WU in first final match if we finish third. So better if WU win for this scenario.

But I want the Nix to have a chance to get 2nd place. So want Perth to win in this scenario.

Cant decide who to cheer for tonight.

If my math is correct, if we win by two tomorrow, and City lose their last game, we would get second by having a better GD. Not sure who would go through if we win by one, and city lose by one (which means we would have the same GD) I assume City since they have more goals scored.

Tonight is there best chance for a win. They get a win then they secure 6th spot and they can rotate for the rest of there games. Real bugger Adelaide couldn't pinch the win at the end there last night.

Our starting lineup will be fascinating tomorrow night. On form you'd think both Rufer and McCowatt would be starting for us. And Elliot and Hudson-Wihongi must also be close. Good luck with your decision making Uffie.

All well and good but it does suck to watch us throw away another great season as we've done twice before.  It could be a while until we're next in the top 2 hunt but then again we could be champs next season. The former is more likely though.

Davila will probably pair up top with Bally or play in behind him centrally. And McCowatt will probably slot into the wide position. Definitely, this will be a tough game given that Jets have lost only 1 game since restart. But probably more involvement from Davila this time - so fingers crossed.

Rufer in place of Devlin in starting line-up? He has been pretty solid coming off the bench.

Rather have Rufer on for Matti. But I don't see Uffie making the change as he will want things as settled as possible. how starts at RB? I hope Elliot gets another shot

DM is a hard working position. Its great having 3 that are inform and can rotate as necessary.

Here is an interesting take on passing numbers for midfielders since the season re start
