Quite rightly too in my opinion but I might have had something to say I was a Melbourne fan.

I thought it was rather harsh but after reading this, I was much happier with the decision to overturn it.

ALF's penalty shout however was a dead set penalty.

Yeah same. Commentators were saying that and that's what changed my mind

Great ball by Brattan and great run by Grant to open the scoring, 1-0

"RIght off the nipple!"

if he has a nipple on his shoulder then sure.

before the rule change that would have been a hand ball.

Chris Beath was the best performer on the field; excellent refereeing.

Missed the penalty. The push against LeFondre as he was setting up to shoot. then soon after gave a free kick against LeFondre for exactly the same thing.

Just want consistency.

I know refereeing is a thankless task but I can never understand why it is said a ref has had a good game after he's made such a crucially poor decision as that one.

And while we are at it, here's another tedious VAR rant: I almost turned the game off in disgust after the Delbridge goal was ruled out. This decision exemplifies all that is wrong about VAR in my opinion. It was an excellent, thoroughly deserved goal and a great reward for Delbridge but the moment was ruined by that horrible VAR mentality of "let's wind it back and see if we can find something wrong with it". Pre-finals the goal would have been justifiably celebrated and the game have gone on. Even if someone later raised a question mark about it I doubt anyone except a few goalkeeping tragics would've complained about obstruction.

It is said VAR was brought in to rectify officiating howlers, but as is typical it instead ruled out a decent goal on, to use that dreaded phrase, a technicality, while weakly failing to correct a Beath penalty error.

mate your totally incorrect about the delbridge goal, Wales wasoffside and was blocking the keeper's view. Totally correct call from VAR. The peno at the other end was 50/50 for mine though.

The Assistant told Beath to check it cuz he thought the player was interfering. Without the VAR, he probably backs himself and asserts that there is interference & its chalked off.

The goal was absolutely correctly ruled out, and would've been ruled out on the field if there was no VAR. The VAR check was basically just to confirm the call since it was available.
