Eight clubs, eight countries total in the last three years. Who needs to settle

The man has an intimidatingly long club history on wikipedia, you'd need an afternoon to read it all

Edit: Fudge me, he's had at least 2 different clubs (not including loan moves) every year since 2014. Crazy stuff.

Why would a player want that? Surely his ability he showed here meant he could atleast settle at a club longer than a year. I cant understand it...

maybe he gets bored in one place quickly, or he's an absolute cock and gets moved on quickly.

would be intersting to see what terms he signs on for.

Maybe his family are using the tail end of his career as a working holiday of sorts before they settle down somewhere? Who knows, we're all different.

Doesn't seem to be working out too badly, he's just scored in a Europa League qualifier.

Watching Cadiz v Osasuna on Sky and there's a dead ringer of Marinovic playing in goal for Cadiz and Steven Taylor on the field for them too. Kinda freaky - Doppelgangers.

Roy Krishna's top five goals from the last ISL season are the main video on the Indian Super League homepage:

Some very nice goals there.

Great interview.

When a well-known athlete opens up about his or her mental health struggles it can help so any people.

John Kirwan has done so much good work in this respect in this country.

Mental health issues of course can affect anyone at any time of your life and it's also good to have some insight in case famly members or friends have problems.

One of the seemingly most unlikely members of my family to suffer depression, an apparently tough, chirpy outgoing Cockney cousin who immigrated to NZ when young, broke down completely and became clinically depressed when his marriage failed but was lucky to have enough insight into his condition through his training as a Fire Service instructor, to book himself into a mental health facility while visiting family in England.

That asking for help saved him.

I was reading about Louise, the widow of former Leeds, Newcastle and Wales legend and Wales manager Gary Speed:

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/gary-...

She has only recently felt able to talk publically about her husband's suicide in 2011.

At the time it seemed totally inexplicable and almost a random act - he seemed happy and together.

She has only discovered recently the extent that Gary had been struggling for years with undiagnosed mental health issues, with depression.

He was just good at hiding it.

"...she stumbled on a letter he sent to her mother’s home when he was a 17-year-old at Leeds United.

It confirmed her deepest suspicions. Gary had been ill for a very long time."

Recent book by Gary Speed's journalist friend John Richardson with Louise Speed "Unspoken: The Family's Untold Story"

Gary Speed was one of four boys coached by paedophile football coach Barry Bennell  who had killed themselves.

Good for him. There's a nice photo on his Soccerway profile.

Been over 5 years since he left the Nix. Never give up on your pro football dream.

Sort of player that will likely be filling out A League squads this season.

Just recently admitted to the Indian Super League from the longer-running rival national league the I-League.

I see that new coach Robbie Fowler has also signed Scott Neville (on loan) and Aaron Amadi- Holloway from his old club Brisbane.

They also have former Scotland international defender Danny Fox (ex Celtic, Burnley, Southampton and Forest) newly signed from Wigan.

Yeah, it's the position with the most depth. We need to save whatever import slots and cash we have for a centre back and a striker, although I hope Hudson-Wihongi makes that position his own.

Was off contract at completion of last season. May have had an option for 2 more years, but with so much uncertainty around the A League coming from all angles, the Nix were hardly in a position to quickly offer a new deal/or take up any option if one existed.

With the amount the of ex A League players now in the ISL, you also obviously have to assume the money there is a lot better as well. But nice kudos to the current culture at the Nix that Taylor, Hooper and Steinmann have all talked very warmly about last season. Stupid virus.

There used to be a joke - "To all you virgins, thanks for nothing". To me, that should be changed to "To all you Covid bugs, thanks for nothing". Covid killed our season. We were doing great at home and we would have had a home semi etc etc.

I really don't know how we will go this season but I wish the club and my fellow fans all the very best on the field and off it. The times they are a-changing.

Matti Steinmann seemingly signed a two-year extension earlier this year (this isn't just from that article, it's the word around town) but was then released to take up the ISL offer. Why it was never announced and why his release was never announced is a mystery.
