Shouting To not AT. As I said, I'll shout to them if I'm trying to get an instruction out. My take on shouting AT players is that it doesn't imply any coaching, more that it's some sort of dodgy psycholgical bollocks to try and motivate players.

This season so far I have found myself shouting instructions a lot more.   I'm trying to get the team to develop from a dribble at all costs (or hoofball on defence) attitude to control-pass-move.

It seems to be starting to gel (about 2/3 into the season), but it has involved a lot of volume from the side-line (messaging is consistent - control and look for the pass, or getting a player to move into space).

I'm not sure if I am shouting TO them or AT them (I think it is to them when it is instructional as above and at them when I am urging them to stay with their player or dropping to defence).

I think expecting players to react to coaches shouts during play is ridiculous. They aint puppets. A certain amount of encouragement is fine.
