Casillas has always been more a shot stopper. Cech is exactly what a team like us, who in fairness don't tend to get bombarded with shots on our goal most games, needs. Controls the area and commanding in the air. Think Seaman or Lehmann. Both had massive presence in goal and while both made the spectacular saves, they would often not need to because they just knew what position to be in. Have read about Seaman making sure diving was a last resort. So much more than a spectacular shot stopper. I was never in favour of signing Shay Given back when we used to be linked every summer for a few years for the same reason. Pains me to mention Almunia's name in the same paragraph as Seaman, Lehmann, Casillas and Cech, but there was never much doubting of his shot stopping ability. It was the composure, decision making and control of the area.
