Amazing stuff welnik, very impressed, well done!
Minor question, I use firefox at work and don't seem to be able to post? When you hit New Reply, or you hit Reply under Actions on someone elses post, all it does is refresh the page.
It's possible I'm on an old version of firefox, it's work, I don't know, and I notice it works fine on Chrome, so definitely not an issue worth spending much time on, but thought I'd mention it.
Same issue as me, but I'm using Chrome. Maybe something to do with work firewall settings? Not my wheelhouse though!
Sounds like a javascript error of some kind. Do you know what Chrome version you're using?

Odd - yeah, it works in a recent version so I can definitely look but we may well be using something that's not available in your version. Do you know the version number?

I am on 86 (ublock origin and https everywhere addons) can reply.

Also, need to spend more time with mobile version before I make comments but from the short time I have used it it is less user friendly than using old full desktop site.

Difficult to do much with "less user friendly" - can you elaborate?

Yes, easier to spot x-new would be good thanks.
Reply (neither of them) does nothing on my iPad.
Display on iPhone is good. Was way too small on previous version, although I rarely use phone for this sort of thing

It works for me, however on Firefox for android the box that you enter a reply into appears under the keyboard so you can't see what you're typing.

So finally ponied up with some cash. As long as we get a Patrick appearance in the match thread on the forums once a month I'm sure it's money well spent. About the same as Amazon Prime currently is, but a bit less than DAZN!

gotta link where to?

It's in Nik's post above, but also https://patreon.com/phoenixcity

Thanks and yes, I have signed up a monthly donation. Hope my wife doesn't think this is some sort of kinky porn site showing up on my card. But to be honest, I really like this "new" layout and stuff.

Very clean, very fast too! Good stuff guys!

I did see someone already mention it but on phone everything's very big! But pretty great regardless 🙂
Which phone? Could be doing something odd with the `device-pixel-ratio` stuff, but I think it may just be a stylistic thing (if you're gonna be doing a lot of reading it makes sense to me to have the text large and spaced out)

I'm on a Galaxy S8 using the Samsung Internet app, below are examples of what I'm seeing:
Screenshot_20210309-013957_Samsung Internet.jpg 413.32 KB

Crazy amount of spacing.
And then the 'this' section is this:
Screenshot_20210309-014023_Samsung Internet.jpg 35.18 KB

Personally I second the comment about seeing the poster's avatar and icon move to the left alongside the text, making it less 'tall' to navigate through.

In general I think it looks great, congrats.

Small UI suggestion: When I'm on the last page, the right hand arrow is greyed out. But the number of the last page is still a link. A couple of times I clicked on it not realising I was on the last page.

First arrow is a real page link to a page I'm not on. Second arrow is the current (happens to be last) page, third arrow is a greyed out "next" arrow.

Just give you more info  “Reply”  not working, just refreshes page error a couple of other have also reported: doesn’t work on 4gen iPad with IOS 10.3.3 which is latest it can get. Neither safari nor chrome
Works fine on iPhone 7 and 8 with IOS 14.4.something - except my tired old eyes struggle with things that small

Still adapting to changes, but any chance of a “back to active topics” link at bottom below your breadcrumbs like we had before?
Also, the pagination. It’s ok on most devices as can select the last page number, but on iPhone there is only 1 number and a forward an back button. That’s 104 clicks to get to last Team Welly post

And while I’m here, also liked the option we had before for yellow background, only because I read a bit at night and iPad white can be a bit glaring

Generally a good design tho

Thanks

This section is just plain broken, I'll get that to bounce onto the next line.

I'm getting ~20 lines of text plus the avatar section which is 5-6 more than you - I think I need to have a play with the zoom levels etc.

Eh, press command+- (ctrl+-) if you want things to be smaller. There are similar controls on your phone - iPhone has Dynamic Type which is supported so use that, Android I'm sure has a similar feature.

Yeah, sorry - I'm using some newer stuff that won't be supported in older browsers. iOS 10.3.3 came out in July 2017 so it's quite old at this point. I can potentially look at popping a polyfill in or similar but that requires me narrowing down what exactly I'm doing and there being a good replacement.

Breadcrumbs: Back to active topics - yeah, can do.

iPhone pagination: Yeah that's just plain broken, I'm working on a fix :D If you click the name of the topic in the list it should take you to the most recent page.

Supporting two designs is a little over twice the effort so we won't be doing that - had to pick a side between the white background-ers and the yellow background-ers, apologies :)

Mate I just want to say Props not only on the new website, but also taking the feedback on board and making more improvements. I cant imagine how much volunteer time and effort its taken to get this up and running then to get hit with the "Its shark" feedback yet you still beaver away trying to make it better!

I've realised that the active link makes it easy to refresh the last page looking for more posts. Maybe you could make it the refresh icon instead? Or is that not very intuitive?

Speaking of new posts - for a QOL improvement could they appear automatically without a manual refresh?

I'm guessing this could be an issue caused by me being absent from the forums for a decent amount of time just as much as anything else, but threads are displaying out of order for me and I can't figure out how to solve it.
I.e. in Dangerous Liaisons there's a thread with the most recent reply being two years ago up top, then seven months, then a year, etc, etc.

That's likely because there was some spam in there that bumped the threads. And when we delete the posts it doesn't reset to the last post.

Okay, there's something b0rked in the "quote-reply to posts" thing; you can't edit the bit you're replying to, which is a good way to get huge, unreadable, quotes-of-quotes-of-quotes-followed-by-one-line-replies threads.

Nik can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he made it so that the forum takes care of this for you! Via autocollapsing earlier quoted posts so the nested posts don't become huge.

It seems like you can still do this the old way by entering:

[quote=USERNAME]the quoted text[/quote.] (minus the fullstop which is there because of the way that this site parses a quote)

Hiya, loving the new site.

When I’m on my mobile (iPhone 12 mini via chrome) and I’m looking at a thread that has lots of quotes and replies, this is what I see and have to scroll heaps to get past.

Nik is away on holiday so might not see this for a while. I think his plan is to make quotes collapse so you'll only see the last couple. But it on the 'to do list'.

Layout is fine but maybe the feedback isn’t coming from some quarters because punters are unable to post.
There was a time when webpages were webpages and all you needed was a web browser to access them. Now it seems you need to the latest device with the latest OS.
Way of the world I guess

And what does “no healthy upstream” mean?
Only device I have that can post (not true exactly, but I don’t use work machines for private pastimes) is an iPhone which is too small for web browsing and it returns this error half the time.
Other devices don’t allow posting at all

While generally loving the refresh have noticed that post count seems to clock out at 3999 on a number of threads.

Also there seems to be a lot of wasted space on a pc.  As I type I only see one previous message on my screen and thats a 20inch monitor.  Likewise I see only two news items on my screen.  Far too big for what they are.

Possibly the website is too mobile phone orientated?

Thanks for this WellNik, makes total sense.
Now, I can't seem to post pictures at all, using IE, Chrome or Firefox (at work so probably all old versions).
Could it be the file type, I'm using the old snipping tool, creating .PNG's? Actually just thinking out loud, will try post a random pic now of a different format:
