Hi all,

Frustratingly it seems like Twitter has placed an IP block across basically all of Digital Ocean. I've shouted into the developer forum void, let's see what happens. 

Tried everything, reserved outbound IP, new datacenter, etc. etc.... nothing.

Doloras, NP gives good advice. Don't bite back, just ignore it, or that thread, and move on. I do that now myself, skip the crap I don't want to get involved in. Probably find, 99% of users do that to my own inputs or rants. The world keeps on moving Doloras, Just rise above it. You'll find that someone brings the thread back on track anyway.

The table comes via the Ultimate A-League API & they don't provide any ALW content (he just doesn't have the time to do both). Not sure there is any website that offers that same information which can be easily added.

 'Easily added' might be the problem. That aleagues.com.au doesn't seem to be one table. It appears to be two tables next to each other: (Pos, Club) in one table; (P W D L GF GA GD PTS LAST 5) in the other. Ugh.
Shrink the browser-width so that "Last 5" heading breaks to 2 lines and see the rows mis-align.

Scraping the data off of rendered web pages is possible, yes, but it will break anytime the other site changes the way they display the table. API's don't have this issue, because they're set up specifically for other people to access data without constantly breaking them. 

It's not worth any of us spending time developing a solution without an API to access the table data. If it's a bad look that we have the men's table and not the women's, the solution in my opinion would be to remove the men's table. 

The existence of the table on the home page is just a side effect of the old FeverBot, back when there was more regular discussion on the forums about the league table. FeverBot needed a way to display the table, which we could just pop on the homepage too. There's plenty of other places on the internet to view up-to-date and live table data so I don't think it's an issue removing it.

I get called rightly or wrongly a "prick" " f**ckin arsehole" "clown" for stating a difference in opinion at times yet to absolute no consequence at all to those involved. 

How long do you have to be on here to get immunity? I've done over a year....obviously not enough.

Maybe the ones doing the name calling run the site or maybe the site has relations in the library space. 

Anyways....Showtimes days are done. If anyone could let me know how to delete an account much appreciated or could the organisers extend my ban if an acc deletion is not possible.

Getting hit with possibly some attack or something where it says a different name in the address bar when I click on threads about the media and all the ‘this’ buttons were missing. That was what alerted me. Other threads seem okay..?

What's the name in the address bar? Kind of interesting that they'd waste their time trying to spoof this website.

Not nearly qualified enough to answer this but my best guess would be that is was probably just the name of the server that hosts the website showing, rather than domain name.

No it was longer 4 or 5 words- something like online-su… can’t remember much beyond that…

Hmm. There was an online in there somewhere and I didn’t click on it to check if it had all the bits and pieces at the end. Maybe a siggy. It wasn’t all threads, maybe 2 or 3. The threads I did have the issue with had the ‘this’ button removed. 

I went out of the threads and came back to them and it still had the odd address bar. Anyway, as far as I can tell it’s not happening now, so?

Seems likely the URL was either to cloudflare or digitalocean if it was still responding with content.

Might be the Auckland supporters trying to get a "feel" for how to run a website aligned with their new club? Or the sudden influx of someone going for "Fan of the year"?? Too late, the Little Corner of Yellow deservedly got that after all their efforts across the ditch. Phenomenal people.

My guess is it's because this club has been around for 17 years and it's just a build up of logs and miscellaneous usage information creating backpressure.

Going to be years before Auckland faces that problem .

Yes, I had a fantastic old fashioned school master (or at least he played this character up), at a school of teachers, who would say all boys between the ages of 5 and 20 should be sent down the mines. 

Unfortunately his tutelage did not extend to what to do if you ended up with girls.
