EXCLUSIVE: Ross Aloisi has applied to become Adelaide Uniteds new National Youth League supremo with the clubs former skipper confident he can mould the stars of tomorrow.
It is barely a week since he announced his retirement but the 34-year-old has never stopped as he starts to examine his next move.

A media career is one option with Aloisi confirming he is short-listed for a spot on Fox8s Football Superstar show and he will definitely be a guest for Adelaide Uniteds next ACL clash against Binh Duong at Hindmarsh.

Theres also the small matter of his tiling business and hes been in every day for 7am, planning, keeping the warehouse running smoothly and delivering.

But theres no question that the desire to coach players burns strongly inside him. He told au.fourfourtwo.com today: I am going for the youth job at Adelaide as coaching youngsters is something I feel very strongly about.

For me, theres no question we have the talent in Australia but its the tactical awareness thats missing for me.

I remember going to France and Italy thinking I knew the 4-4-2 system but the coaches I worked with over there were tremendous in educating players just how they should work within a system.

Theres 101 million drills that Ive learned over the years and would love to put into practice. Ive also learned a lot from my year in Wellington with Ricki Herbert.

And had the Phoenix been included in initial plans for the new A-League youth competition then Aloisi would have been put in charge of that set up.

He said: That was there for me, something they wanted me to do. Obviously they (Phoenix) are waiting to hear if they can set something up based in Canberra.

But as Aloisi weighs up his options he is certainly isnt letting the grass grow under his feet. He has thrown himself into the tiling business, much to the bemusement of several Adelaide locals.

He joked: Some people are a bit surprised when they see me roll up for a delivery. It happened today in fact. The bloke I was dealing with told his son that I was there and he didnt believe him. But I enjoy chatting to people.

In fact thats why I start at 7am, to make sure I can get some work done. A couple of hours later and you find yourself chatting away to customers whove come in. Its great. Im really enjoying it.
