Yeah maybe it's a worst case scenario.
But the rushed Fox/FFA plans to try finish the season highlight, there will definitely be a financial hole now. How big, no idea, but doubt there are any cash reserves at FFA HQ. They had already been cutting costs with national teams etc, having lost major sponsors in recent times like Harvey Norman, Caltex, NAB, Aldi etc.
Rumours a few months back that Hyundai were also going to quit this June.
So that leaves the individual A League clubs to carry the can. It would be a very brave Welnix to try and re-sign Hooper with his high wages, come the end of May if is still no real certainty around the A League.
You are also putting a lot of faith in Coronavirus being 'mild' in NZ. I'm not so optimistic given it's approaching the cooler months, and the poor standard in general of NZ housing. Sadly too many cold and damp shark boxes. Inter generational PI households in South Auckland, are going to be one high risk group for sure. Especially if older members of the family have poor health like diabetes. Some people live in what is effectively a cold carpeted garage. Sincerely hope I'm wrong. Time will tell.
