It puzzles me (me being of the older generation) how things change.
On one hand, we are now exceedingly careful not to give offence to others on all sorts of cultural grounds that most of us are now at least vaguely aware of after being shaken out of our decades of ignorance.
On the other hand, public language (for example in TV shows) is often now liberally sprinkled with profanities that I personally find unnecessary to make my point in daily speech or to emphasise the point.

I'm not up to date with the modern chants because i don't usually sit in the zone. But in this instance I think it suits the character of the player. Strong upfront enforcer: hard as ...

Nice suggestion, just been a bit of argy bargy on the forum where swearing was an issue and also Greenie and a few others were discussing about it in the zone too..!

That’s why it’s coming up, not so much to do with yourself. Awesome to see a new member jump in and suggest a chant.

What’s the current Piper chant?

I’m not in Welly anyway these days so not the best to ask.

If you want to you can add a bit of f- there ahead of the Party! What’s the tune? Tho not in the zone cos representing etc.

There’s some scope there to upgrade that to Beast Mode I’m sure…chant savants?

My wife enjoyed the Mossy, Dura and Krishna’s chants…something with a bit of build up

Oska was complaining about using ABBA for chants on a recent thread on here but back in the day there was a Paston chant to a One Direction song ffs!

Get those going again i reckon.

Three for me, and two for them.

There were still chants back in the day that kicked off in the zone which used profanities directly towards people (generally the referees) which could be considered more offensive than that Corban Piper chant.

In the 80s and today you'd still be told off for calling someone a fudging r*tard; the difference is what word would upset people

Ramming liberal dribble down your throat since 2009
This forum needs less angst and more Kate Bush threads

Was I??

I believe "X you're our goalkeeper" is still on high rotation - pretty sure I heard it come through on the broadcast of the last game.

I stand by my Maneater suggestion for Manjrekar - that's got legs.
You know we belong together...

"Your our goal keeper" is banged out most games sadly there havnt been many other new ones that have got traction. I love the Newcastle  no jet planes in the air.
Also none of those one liners that used to be get a laugh  such as " your whole team is ineffectual" most these days seem to require swear words.
Could be all the funny buggars have left the zone. Ginger

Agree and have never denied there wernt but no way were they as often as it is know or use swear words as often in a chant and they certainly didnt use one of the words which appears with unwanted frequency.

Context also matters. I’m much less comfortable with us swearing at Porirua Park where it’s general admission and we’re surrounded by families than in the Zone where people should know what to expect.

That said, those of us at the games are still representing the Fever diaspora (and indirectly, the club), so it never hurts for us to stop and remember the words of old Robbie:

O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae mony a blunder free us,
An' foolish notion
