Felipe was the first in the long line of Nix attacking players whose experience of the A-league is basically having the shark kicked out of him.

His performance in the first ever win against Sydney is still one of my all-time favourites for the club.

Yeah, he showed a lot of hunger and passion in those two games. He was instrumental in the fight back in the first game and was dominant in the first win against Sydney.

Shame the season went how it did as there was a lot of talent on the pitch.

That side certainly had the attacking talent. But the backline that had Clebo, Old, O'Dor, and Plodder was always going to be the weak spot.

I enjoyed that game last night.Couple of things stand out.

Cleberson was super bad. Won a tonne of headers and was throwing himself around a lot, but his positioning was terrible.  I wish we had Opta stats back then because his average position wouldn't have been anywhere near Dodd. Rush out of the line needlessly which caused huge gaps in behind. Should have been send off for a second yellow when he bought Allsopp down. Is he still living on the Kapiti Coast.

Ferrante also very poor. Don't think he made a successful pass.

Felipe made a difference when he came on. My memory of him is that was up and down that season, but then I see he played in Saudi Arabia so perhaps he was better than I remember. I'd completely forgotten that he signed for the Fury at one stage.

Mark Elrick was poor doing sideline commentators. Called Carlos Fernandos at one stage. Then he interviewed a Victory staff member without mentioning who he was.

He was living in Brisbane back in 2014 when his kid drowned on a trip back to Welly :(

Mysterious illness.. sounds horrible for him and his family.

He's still over in Aussie. Was the head coach of Redlands United last year.

Doubt there will be many who will put there hands up for it, but seem to recall there was some optimism about Cleberson for a while. Or should I say briefly. Was a very enthusiastic participant at our first meet and greet.

He had his strengths.  In terms of CBs we've had he was probably one of the quickest and one of the best in the air.  I think he was okay with the ball at his feet too.  But as 2B said his positioning was woeful and I think he really struggled with communication.

You know we belong together...

I realised, though, that George and Johnny Chen were clear winners in the worst player category. Listened to the radio a lot for the first year so didn't see many of the performances.

that goal lochy scores against Perth was class, two brilliant crosses from Daniel which led to Aloisi and Lochy's goals.

Yet again Brown underrated took ages for us to replace him after he retired like others that have played for us he was for some reason never given the credit due apart from a few. Two very different teams and I would suggest some in todays team would really struggle to handle the physical nature of the 2010 team. That 2010 team was more than capable of playing some nice football and yes Hearfield didn't turn out to be the footballer many thought he would but it cant be denied that he turned in some good performances. If Devlin and Steinman can deliver the same level of performance for as long as Muscat gave us I will be happy to agree.

Given we started this season as we did its only a very short period of time this years team has shown us what they can do. Even then read the match day threads many of those performances were being criticized for not being as complete as some wanted. Yes potential wise this years team is ahead of others and has sadly been cut short.

Surprises me how quickly some seem prepared to under value  previous teams also not convinced the overall quality in todays league is so much better than in some previous years.

The 2010 Nix side also beat Boca Juniors in a friendly in Wellington, played early in their pre-season in July 2010.

It was a pretty strong Boca side containing several past and future internationals.

Durante scored for both sides, McCallister getting the Nix's second in a 2-1 win.

At their best, that Nix side could play some darn good football.

Struck by some of the qualities Siggie and Steven Taylor share.

That seemed a very settled team, almost understated. Less bravado, better passing than the main finals run. Instead of Dadi, Sanchez, Smith and Pavlovic. Smith replaced Ward??

Need the intimidation back in Wellington- the crowd was amazing

Impressive performances from Blake Powell, obviously, Watto, Foxy, Riera, McGlinchy.  Doyle's and McGlinchy's crosses superb.

how crazy one footed was Stuart Downing? Riera was such a class footballer. Some great performances there.

I watched the start of that match and noted that I think only Fenton is left as the remaining squad member from those days.

I always thought we played him too deep. After that game we signed Bonevacia, so it was pretty much the only time he played that high.
