Season ticket holders can bring their pals and get a chance to win a trip to an away game.

Pray for good weather now!

With all this angst about crowds I wonder what the Welnix attendance figures are like?

Have not seen or heard much from any of them in general recently.

Do they all go to every game?

I am a follower type so I need these natural born leader types to show me what to do.

I think we have to be very careful about promoting the game based on players in the opposition.  Long term we need punters to want to pay to come and watch our team, not the opposition

slightly careful - but promoting ADP or the return of Marco or Smeltzy is a decent marketing tool to get a certain audience.
JD - there is ADP banter amongst people that know fark all about footy this season

Yeah agreed mate, I just think we need to try as well to get our fans and potential fans talking about our players, and building them up as our heroes.  It should be Ifill vs ADP - not just come and watch ADP...

By this sunday, it would have been 8,000 days since Sydney last won in Wellington. Since then they have lost 6 straight.

I think there needs to be some serious consideration to a roof at the stadium

I said the same thing today half in jest - but yes it would improve things

I've heard that they regret when they initially designed the stadium that they didn't factor in being able to put in a roof in the future. It'd cost way too much to do it now apparently. Forget exact figures.

Yeah there was some discussion about it in the dompost when they announced the refurbishment of the stadium.  It can be done but would be expensive, would cost about 60mn.  It may seem a lot right now but I'm not sure that in 10 years a stadium without a roof will be fit for purpose.

It is cheaper to build a new stadium, than retrofit it to put a roof on.

There's a lot of other much simpler things they could do in the meantime, like improve the walk to the stadium.

For starters, there always seems to be a lot of people struggling along the walkway on a bad day who don't know that you can actually walk all the way from the Railway Station to the gates undercover if you cut along platform 9 and then around and up through the carpark. The problem is it's obviously not a proper footpath that has been designed for lots of pedestrians. Surely that would be relatively cheap and easy to upgrade though and it would make walking in much more pleasant.

There will be another big build up to the Sydney FC game this weekend with another March to the Match planned for Sunday afternoon.

Following on from Wellington's Christmas Parade, the Phoenix will again be staging a March to the Match from Queens Wharf. With music and entertainment and lots of activity it all adds up to an excellent pre-match build up.

On the field, the Phoenix are finding some real form, with striker Jeremy Brockie hitting his straps in front of goal and currently being in second in the A-League's golden boot.

And with Jason Culina and, injury permitting, Alessandro Del Piero both turning out for Sydney, the potential is for a game full of football qulaity

You will not want to miss this game!

March will leave Queens Wharf at around 3.45pm.

Phoenix Season Ticket holders again get free transport on Go Wellington and Valley Flyer buses between 12 and 11pm on Sunday .

Wonder if we can sneak Nixie into the Santa Parade also. It's a big if but if the weather is fine, they say the parade gets 60k people. Hopefully we can drag a few of them thru the turnstiles. Santa Parade is 2:30pm and the Carols is 7:30pm, so the game would be a good bridge between the two events.

I feel cynical that we'll get people from the xmas parade.  Would be a good gap filler but I dunno, I'm losing faith in the public of Wellington.

Have the YF Mobile in the parade and offer Santa Zone tickets from it for $10

(Santa Zone, behind the goal with the handful of away fans)

Can't see why we wouldn't get families going to both.

I'm expecting more than a handful this week.  If it's like last week, plus with TeeDubs playing they will outnumber us at 'The Pub' pre-game.

Is NZ Football doing any sort of promo to get people to go to these curtain raiser games?  Their social media needs a shit load of work.

I noticed on the back of the Dom Post today  an article saying something like Sydney may leave Del Piero at home and on the same page a few ads away this..

The Phoenix need to do a lot more work on the social media trying to get people along to the Nix games as well. I would love for the club to hire a fan that knows how to use twitter properly to advise the club on what they can be doing better.

was talking to a non nix fan uyesterday and he mentioned the roof thing as well, he said that the council were so short sighted when they didn't consider a roof, too expensive now though. Fior mine, blaming the stadium's facilities is a poor excuse, it's an open stadium which on a fine day is stunning. The walk is no that bad, if people were smart they'd follow the crowds. The killer is the $30 parking at the stadium, make it $10 and they fill the carparks and people would have to walk 10 minutes from town....add onto thqat the expensive drinks, cold chips etc and that you can't bring anything but water into the stadium. If we removed all these blocks from our stadium it would make it so much easier for people to attend

Fuck all this "how do we get a bigger crowd" shit...how do we make the Zone loud again?

I'll put my hand up here - I have been skipping the zone lately - but it seems to me like the old powerhouses: News, Greenie, Santy, Davey Rutherford, all the assorted Miramar Drunks etc etc have really dropped the ball too.

How do we turn the volume back up?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Sponsor Coops attendance?

Not sure whether it's because I'm sober at games (circumstances not a plan) but I've struggled to feel it this season.  I'll certainly put my hands up as having been shit.

We've even struggled to get the new flags flying, partly due to wind and partly because finding people to put their hands up to take them on, and even the big banner was a train wreck on Sunday.

We have been a little quiet lately. I love the big banner but it never seems to be very legible on telly. Especially when wind is involved. Maybe its just that its not up for very long? Could we someohow pin it down in an open area of seats so it is permanent?

I think we do need to reinvigorate the zone. Ive taken 1st timers recently and they werent as sucked in as I had hoped. I dont neccessarily have the solution, but sometimes I think there is an intmidation factor for people. We are the hardcore and I think sometimes outsiders are a bit cautious to come and join in.

Maybe what we need is to try and fill up that zone again and make it as welcoming as possible. Once you stand with the fever, you are one of the fever, and we forget about everything else and support the nix. Maybe we need some sort of gimmick of our own? I dont know.
