Agreed.  Totori got 10 minutes and created at least 2 half chances with his directness, 2 more than Brockie, Ifill and Huysegems created in the entire game.

Actually I think only one poster has questioned how much Totori was involved, everyone else has been positive.
I made the comment about his defending (and if you want to compare him with Ifill for defence there is no contest I think).  But I still rate his contribution when he had the ball as one of the better players.

Noticed that as well and commented on it to someone at half time.Like you i will continue to return but question my wisdom at times.Fully understand why others dont bother when its that type of crap we are being dished up home game after home game.As much as i hate losing at least when you do it playing some sort of  football it can be a little easier to take. But game after game of the crap it gets FKN annoying.

While it wasnt perfect the bloody lot of them should take another look at that first home game against Sydney it gave us all some hope, which is disappearing fast.

Disappointed by the result today.  I think someone posted earlier that we expected to win, but Sydney wanted to win.  They came and took the points.  This is our most important month with home games.  We are not playing well, Ifill doesn't have the same magic as he used to have.  How do we right the ship?

Sometimes I think my life would be better if I didn't love the nix. :(

Actually quite pleased with the result.  Probably could argue they deserved a draw as Sydney were pretty crap (just not totally abysmal like last time) - apart from a couple of somewhat important moments - but our guys were equally pretty crap.

But this loss may wake Ricki and the boys up (please, Lord <praying emoticon>), because tbh, they've been ordinary to worse for all but 50mins at home this season.  And yet have been arguing it's the weather's fault ffs.  Get a bloody grip guys.

Today was, largely, clueless shite.  The players did it but Ricki has to take a lot of the wrap for that.  If the gaffer is not on his arse tonight I'll be surprised. We've seen that core squad play a heck of a lot better and never worse at home imho.

Great last 5mins though.  If we could more often play against 10 men who are happy to defend a 2-0 lead, then the season could become quite exciting.

<hand clap emoticon> to the Fever.  You got off to a ripper start and sustained that until the mediocrity got to you for a while.  Then a mid-late effort to try and stir the lads before really coming to life with genuine hope and passion for that last 5.  Created a great atmosphere that almost made up for the footy.  Until it became  too much even for you.  Well done on a great effort.  Shame the team didn't deliver.  Special mention goes to "We don't know what we're doing; we don't know what we're doing. We don't know what we're doing"  That's what it sounded like from where we were and it was about right.

Where there is life there is hope.  I've seen this lot come to life from what I thought was unrecoverable incompetence before.  So time to do your stuff lads, Ricki.  Sydney has told you that you are no farkin good playing the way you are, so back to the drawing board - Iffy, you may just have to train for a change; the rest, back each other, die for the cause and lets see what you can really do.

COYN.

Which game were you fucking watching?

The one we just lost 2-1 to the bottom team of the league, who have only had a coach for a week and were without their two marque players.  That the one you were watching?  Four shots on goal.  And that is stretching it I think.
Mind you I enjoyed the comedy over the difference between 6 small steps and 9.15m.  And the replay of that show.  Plus Brockie's volley was pretty good.  And when the young fellas and Totori got on we at least had a greater degree of pace and enthusiasm.

Still, if you enjoyed it, thought the play was good, thought we dominated and should have won and will win the league, good on you.  I am just one of those people you'd like to come along and pay a share - to make your fix of footy economic.  Don't mind me and my expectations of some higher degree of smarts, skill, pace and entertainment than that.

with bonus timewasting (aided by the gutless ref,

who was also too lacking in authority to get a wall back 10 yards)

Thats a kinda laughable statement when he gave us a pen and tossed their captain.... Short 10 yards yes, but not gutless.

Absolute and utter garbage, which is what we've seen for 90% of this season so far.

Ricki is so comfortable in his position Welnix may as well get him a Lazyboy chair to watch the game from.

Utter lack of creativity, we created approximately ZERO clear cut chances, and I can recall their keeper making one save - a long range effort from Lia, which should've actually been a pass to Huysegems since Lia was never going to score.

I think we can safely say (and I'm talking to you Ifill) that the weather is NOT to blame, and the utterly boring fare on offer IS.

Tactics appear to be as follows: pass it around the back 4 and keeper, and when that becomes a bit boring, HOOOOOF it up the park and hope for the best.  Oh and if ever you are on the wing, cross the ball into the box regardless of anyone is there or not (probably not).

Ifill has lost it completely and needs to be dropped.  Brockie is far too lazy and casual.  We do not get Huysegems into good positions and give him the ball despite him proving he'll finish chances.  We should've started Totori or brought him on earlier, at least he is direct and tries to pick out players when he puts a cross in.

Lia, Smith, and Muscat = the most boring and uncreative midfield ever known in world football.

All in all, utter crap and I cannot see a single point being gained from Adelaide or CCM games.

Change is needed and IMO it starts with Ricki.  He's done.

As much as I appreciate what the Welnix have done for this club they really need to step up and put a bit of pressure on Ricki.
They want more people at the games, the only way that is gonna happen is if we play exciting football, who is in charge of that? Ricki Herbert.

Team at full strength against a side that's been floundering on the bottom of the league. A home game, opposing team sans their star players, decent weather for once, better crowd turn-out... and nothing from the Phoenix. Who among them actually turned out to play? That was just a passive and uncreative a performance from a group of players who should be worth more. No energy and no ideas. Surely Ricki can get more from them than that.

I can enjoy a Phoenix game even when they get thumped but that just wasn't enjoyable to watch. More performances like that and the club will bleed attendees. No-one wants to see that.

Also to whoever it was, if you're going to throw a plastic Speights bottle in a justified rage can you put the cap on it first? Ta.

It makes such a difference to the game day experience for everyone.
Lets keep it up, I want to see huge crowds back at the tin and I believe the more noise in the fever zone the more likely people will want to keep coming back. Its add to the whole 'game day experience'

The most disappointing thing for me is that all week I've been worried that we would dish up precisely that passionless, uncreative performance, but kept telling myself, no, they must surely be fully aware of how important this game is in so many ways. Yet out they went and served up a "shower of shit". Of all ten teams I watched this weekend we were easily the most toothless and unadventurous.

It's the problem with making your entire target market, families. They've requested a lot of Sunday games to cater for them. The problem is, if its a bit windy or cold - they won't turn up, if there is another event that is free like the Santa parade etc they're hardly going to shell out $60 + for the Phoenix.

What you need to cater for are those who have the money and want to spend it going on a night out. This generally means a Friday or Saturday night. If you look at the first game of the season, we got 12k. It'll be interesting to see what the crowd is on Saturday the 22nd.

When these families don't turn up, welnix then threatens US saying they're going to take games away. Perhaps they need to look in the mirror first, and ask themselves if the strategies they have in place are actually working or not.

Theyre not working and they wont work. We all know how fickle kiwi sports fans are - just look at the shit storm that started brewing after the ABs loss to England. The only problem with having finished as well as we have in the past is that nothing less will do until we better that. And as much as i love the guys I dont think our current squad is capable of that this season.

Fridays get the worst crowds.

I think its tough for us give the time zone and catering for the Aus market (which is pretty small for our games).  Ideally if Welnix think this is their audience then a 2:30 game would be deal. However this would never happen.

Targeting families is fine, but if you look at the advertising, it's playing up the fever zone.  Which is just stupid.
