People love to get involved and feel like they are part of something - but are often put off by the drunken mob and other factors.
Why do we have guards specifically checking the fever zone? I didnt see them last game, but can we get rid of them?
Maybe a few can spill over to the other aisles.
When I start shouting/singing most turn around and stare, and a few (kids more often than not) join in.
Last season there was a chap in aisle 24 who got things going every now and then and we would feed off each other (ooh err) and then others would join in.
We are mostly followers you know.

We have been a little quiet lately. I love the big banner but it never seems to be very legible on telly. Especially when wind is involved. Maybe its just that its not up for very long? Could we someohow pin it down in an open area of seats so it is permanent?
For me that is against what it stands for. For me the banner is telling the players how we support them and by running it over everyone it's passing on the support. If it was tied down away from the fever it would just look like a club promotion.
Agree entirely that it doesn't stay up long enough, but I don't know how we change that mindset. We really need some 'banner champions' in each corner of the zone so they will encourage the people around to support it instead of sending it back down 20 seconds later.

Probably because they knew that there were not going to be many people in the Fever Zone.
Myself and Elmo_Rises were holding the top left corner up of the banner, and tried to keep it up for as long as possible. Made the decision to send it back down the Zone earlier than we would have liked due to the wind, and due to the letters starting to fly off.
I think we should try and keep it up until after the coin-toss, when the players run into position and some clap the crowd (Pasty in particular). This way the players will see the message, which they wouldn't do when they are walking out of the tunnel. Maybe we should send it up the Zone a bit later, instead of when they are starting to walk out?

This. For example, the entire Zone was packed for the first game of the season (Sydney FC), so if more people who didn't have tickets tried to get it, they would be taking up seats (standing area) designated for season pass holders etc. I am pretty certain that the reason they didn't have guards there on Sunday is because the Fever Zone tickets had only been half sold.

I'll put my hand up here - I have been skipping the zone lately - but it seems to me like the old powerhouses: News, Greenie, Santy, Davey Rutherford, all the assorted Miramar Drunks etc etc have really dropped the ball too.
How do we turn the volume back up?
you are going to be up for the craic more if you are at a party at the Ave on a friday night as opposed to meeting Hard News for a pint at the Downtown Local on a tuesday.

This and besides that I assume they are there to prevent people from stealing your season pass seat. Fever zone is prime real estate and you can't have an excess of people for emergency hazards and its a pain when you arrive at the game to find some jokers in your seat who paid for some other crappy seats and you have to awkwardly go "Ooh ah I think your sitting in my seat there, is that 115, yeah piss off then."

There's a lot of other much simpler things they could do in the meantime, like improve the walk to the stadium.
For starters, there always seems to be a lot of people struggling along the walkway on a bad day who don't know that you can actually walk all the way from the Railway Station to the gates undercover if you cut along platform 9 and then around and up through the carpark. The problem is it's obviously not a proper footpath that has been designed for lots of pedestrians. Surely that would be relatively cheap and easy to upgrade though and it would make walking in much more pleasant.
This is more important than a roof on the stadium imo. You don't actually get wet inside the stadium, there are plenty of covered seats. However you cannot avoid getting wet on the way to the stadium if it is raining. It should be covered all the way.

Yeah theres no way Id renew. Its a short term fix to a long term problem. Its 2 games out of town now, next season it might be 4, then it might be 6... a lot of wellingtonions would become disinterested, and depending on how bad it gets i believe ultimately players would reconsider their contracts. Why would someone like Durante want to be on the road 4 weeks out of every 5 when he could settle back in Sydney and be with his family? This is the sort of shit i see happening. The club would disintegrate and it could be the end of everything football in NZ, again.

Looking at some of the other club's Facebook pages we really don't have too much happening on our page, and considering we have one of the biggest FB followings in the A-League it's really not good enough. Although to their credit they have just started up the 'Fan Zone' section for Members.

agreed, I'll accept two games away from home, any more than that and I'll watch from home - this is my only way of saying to the club I'm not happy with it. In essence taking the team on tour may give themn 4 home (away) games with big crowds once or twice - when the novelty wears off or some other new thing arrives it will go to zero and the club will have lost the hardcore fans as well - someone at the nix management must know this!!!!????????????

I find this fan march thing a bit weird. How is it supposed to get more people to the game? I'd really like someone to explain it to me.
I think there's too much focus on all the stuff around the game and too little focus on why people go - which is to see a game of football. Get back to promoting the team on the pitch and the atmosphere in the stands, and try and improve what can be improved at the stadium (I'd start with someone making decent coffees and a stall selling craft beers - two things Wellingtonians are right into).
Don't go down the route of making the whole day some sort of generic entertainment experience/family day out. It's a sports game, it's got to be about the sport

The march to the grounds thing worked really well during RWC and therefore everyone thinks they are a great idea. Hurricanes wanted to try one but I don't think it ever got off the ground.

Might as well be. I think football would suffer a massive loss without the Phoenix - no denying this. Sure we'd still have fans, every sport does, but the neutrals wouldnt bother. There would be no shop window, nobody would care. Theres no guaranteeing NZ would get another shot so we could be worse off than we were when we had the Kingz/Knights.
