I think it's not as dire as everyone else sees it and we have certainly been in it. We are losing it in the front 3rd though but that's cause City chuck a wall up and we really only have 2 forward. They are certainly hammering Doyle's side but I would expect them to come right down the middle after half with both our CBs on yellows and capable of getting a second. Roly has been holding the ball up a bit much and as a result, is playing laterally once he has pirouetted on the ball. A-Rod has been our best. Covering getting back, good passes... and some people think he does nothing.
Oddly optimistic but I agree. The front third is clearly the problem and maybe only 1 or 2 players away from being really competitive, not the 3 or 4 as some suggest. At some point during the second half we had the ball for about 30 passes in the midfield (after A-rod was subbed) but everything was going lateral. The three front players were static, stuck on their markers and no one looking to come deep to recieve or to create space for each other. Without any threat in the front third of course the team will be under more pressure than desired at the back, with front foot ball the opposition would sit deeper and deeper, the Nix just aren't able to build that pressure without Krishna and Burns...
I think the end of last season was a direct result of not having a plan B (or plan B being injured). Right now we have a plan B, unfortunately we are just forced to play it every game.
