Rose Colored Glasses and the New Year

Forever wanting to be the optimist when it comes to all things Phoenix just thought i would put this out there.
Try and take it in the way its intended no need to get heavy about things.
So just took a look at the table and if you had just arrived in Wellington you would be wondering what all the fuss is about.
The top 2 are out of sight at the moment but 3rd Brisbane has 15 points while 6th Melbourne has 14 points and 10th Wellington has 11 points.
So only 4 points between 3rd and 10th and still plenty of games to go before the finals.
So yep that eternal optimist in me looks forward to the New Year and just maybe with a couple of signings   (come on down Bill and Sarpreet) a turn around is not only due but possible.

I hope 2026 is the year of the Phoenix.

I was walking down Featherston street today and saw a young man wearing a Phoenix jacket. I couldn't help but smile. And look today in Mt Maunganui, perhaps a rare sight but a youngster in a Nix shirt

Why’s everyone so glum?

A record best 7-0 and then a 3-0 win over West Sydney. Two weeks 10-0!

A popular striker who’s a national team star, attracting a lot of positive everywhere.

Playing gorgeous football. Come on Phoenix!

Nix academy enroll 13 yr-old wonder kid from Invercargill who has the skills of the infant Messi and the engine of Corban Piper. They then learn he has two younger brothers who are even more promising. Rob Morrison gets it. Takes advance payment from Barca on a promise plus two Barca first team fringe players immediately on a longterm loan.

I think we're still potentially on for top 6 and after that, who knows.

I think we missed Edwards a lot vs Victory.  LKH effectively at FB alone defending down the left with Armiento and Nagasawa playing higher and Rufer not really quick enough to cover the fast Victory transitions exposed LKH and pulled Hughes wide.

Mind you, Sheridan was equally struggling on the right.

If we could get a few players back I'd like to see:

Eze
Armiento Nagasawa Piper
LKH Rufer
Edwards Hughes James Sheridan
Oluwayemi/AKH

Just a bit stronger defensively.

If we had Retre on full minutes I'd be inclined to start him ahead of Sheridan or LKH. But the big thing for me is to get two dedicated DMs in place. If we cut out the dumb goals against, we're a chance of a turnaround.

An Ishige replacement would beef us up further and if we got Mileusnic back (anyone with any idea about his injury) we'd be starting to get some threatening depth.
