Given its been acknowledged how difficult it can be to convince players to come here i dont think there should be any surprise that its been said this is one of our most expensive squads.

It would be harder to convince them to come here than for other A-League clubs. At least I think that is the case for decent players from Continental leagues, and also from Latin American countries.  This might be behind the fact that some will end up moving to an A-League club in Australia after playing for the Nix, and I do not need to list the past examples.  
In contrast I cannot remember any players from UK that moved to Australia after playing for the Nix. For that reason alone I suspect (with no real evidence) that we would pay more for Zawada or Kraev that we would need to pay Wooten or Ball to come here.  
I may of course be wrong, for example how come we were the first club to have a Mexican player in A-league?  Although to be fair there were not one but two Cost Rican players in the A-League well before then.  It may have to do with opportunities available to the players and their overall mindset, rather than just the money / conditions / being offered to them.

That is certainly the case for decent players from Continental leagues, and also from Latin American countries.
