I'm surprised that Wellington did not get a Semi Final Game. Could get a bigger croud then in Christchurch.

$5.5 million in government money spent... An estimated 8000 visitors. So, if each visitor brings about $700 into the economy then there's a net gain for NZ. $700 per visitor seems like a pretty low spend to me. And that's before even considering the increased exposure to tourist markets etc.

Also, government spending on MP's travel expenses in 2014 was $11m so that's twice what the WC has cost us. Seriously, what a non-story

If the Final has sold out eleven days beforehand, it makes you wonder how many tickets they could have sold in a bigger stadium than North Harbour such as Eden Park (50,000 - or 60,000 with extra seating)  or the Cake Tin (34,500)...

Werder Bremen? Said he thought "2 or 3" of ours were worth consideration, for "not flagging" or something like. Coz the "Bundesliga requires maximum effort for the full 90"  (loose rephrasing). Any guesses who? I reckon Dyer, Patterson and Brotherton.

The only way Eden Park would have sold out is if NZ had made the final and we all knew that wasn't going to happen. Wellington would have sold out but that's only 9500 more than North Harbour and don't NZF have some contractual obligation to Albany?

According to Fox Sports, that makes no difference whatsoever

The old "we got more than you" pissing contest beginning to creep in, I see. Personally I've been disappointed in the croud numbers in Wellington. Yes, the weather has been a contributing factor but, for the self proclaimed "Home Of Football", I expected a bit better.

What the bald Scot who piked on Hamilton last night said.

I think people were maybe misreading my point there a bit. I'm not starting a pissing contest or arguing on the basis of croud-to-population ratio. I thought the discussion was about where the final could have been held and I was just pointing out that Wellington's croud for the biggest game we've had was bigger than Hamilton's for their one. I completely agree that we have had disappointing crouds here so far, but that doesn't mean a final here wouldn't have sold out.

Haha. Touche.  Sadly, working for The Man took precedence last night. :-(

I intend to make up for it by taking my little fella to the Tron for the game on Sunday.

The weather and being winter and all was always going to affect the numbers.  Interesting to see how much Hamilton gets for Brazil vs Portugal at 1pm...hopefully with a fine day.

Was impressed with the croud at the end of the game applauding and acknowledging how well we played and how good the game was. Expected more knife in the back from a mostly football shy croud. 10.5k is probably a good croud for Hamilton on a rainy night. Very few people appeared to have made the trip to Hamilton bear in mind.
