A stand like that for a practice pitch is a tad strange?

I think that will be their main stadium if it only seats 5k. Will still be too big for them by about 4k!!!

yeah the away kit is way better than any of the away kits currently. I hate the boring standard white away kit that the league is flooded with.

Yikes, that game last night against the Jets set the record for lowest ever full crowd at an A League game, and the only game ever to have a crowd less than 1000; only 990 people went according to the official crowd number. They had the game at 30000 capacity AAMI Park and filled 3% of it, that’s very worrying.

As a sado Knights fan, I'm happy to see a number of unwanted records recorded against kiwi sides being handed over to Aussie teams.  Especially this stat.

Actually just had a look at piss poor attendances and this season has been shocking.  That Knight's game that was the record holder for so long is now 14th worst and the Nix have now recorded 4 worse attendances:

I think those Nix entries should be removed, they are not actually home games, nor even in our home country.

Agreed. They're irrelevant. We have no choice, whereas all the others are at home / have chosen to play elsewhere.

They are still legitimate stats and the context of location is shown, can disregard them, but correct to be recorded.

To be honest it's amazing that the Phoenix don't hold all the bottom spaces. The fact that there are six attendances below them is a great testament to the team and the engagement they've managed to do.

Is it just me or does WU feel like a franchise walking dead?  less fans then the Knights, GC or Furies.  Must be close to the chop, especially given results of late.

I'd say everything hinges on the planned new 15,000 stadium out at Tarneit (Western Melbourne). WU to be an anchor tenant. If new shiny stadium is built in their 'heartland' and WU can't draw say min average 7,000 (which to be fair is about a regular Melb City crowd), yes you'd have to ask some serious questions as to why they exist. 2023 apparently latest timeframe for construction completion.

Hopefully with club owners (APL) now running the league, any new expansion happens where it should. Canberra, The Gong & Auckland.

They didn’t played better at the start of the season but somehow managed to win a few games with pure luck. Like to see if Rudan can convince the owners it not his fault and can stay for another season. I’m not sure if anyone at the club is happy after two years, their on field performance is not very attractive, defensive, no results.

So Nix's first real 'rivalry', comes to it's inevitable short term end.
Pantomime villain, Burgess & likely Kurto all gone. Dura retired.

Need an Auckland A League club, for anything long lasting.

When you think how well they did last season and the good position they were in beyond the halfway point of this season, it could be considered quite harsh.

Things came unstuck during a crucial run of 4 games in 10 days when they visibly wilted, then it was too late to stop the rot. Wondering if it was one of those cases when he 'lost the dressing room', as there always seemed to be some story simmering about player discontent, bullying accusations, etc.

People on this forum have short memories. After the debacle with Darije Kalezic and his sidekick Rado Vidosic, Rudan put the Nix back on the map. There was a 'line in the sand moment' where Rudan publicly questioned the A-League's attitude and approach to the Nix and from that point forward we've never looked back.

He exercised an option in his contract. Nothing illegal about that.

Yes, it was an underhand, dirty approach taking  Burgess, Kurto and Dura with him to Western United but they're all big boys and made that decision for themselves. Can't put it all on Rudan.

He found us Talay. How well has that worked out?

Rudan's a strange guy, but I give it to him. I think he's a pretty decent coach and seems to be a good man-manager/motivator. Pretty harsh from the WU hierarchy.

Our view of Rudan is blighted by our emotional attachment to All Things Nix therefore some will see him as a bad coach who got all he deserved.
I am not sure I would like him as a person, but I do not have to.  He was not a terrible coach for the Nix while here, and he was not a terrible coach for The Bitumens either.  There are good years and bad years (just look at the Victory) and not all can be pinned on the coach.
Personally I would prefer WU to succeed, as a club, on the assumption that there was a good reason to plant the club where it is.  I think Canberra got shafted in the process (at that time) but nothing stands in the way of ACT to have their own team in the new post-FFA world of the A-League. Off topic.

Rudan's hiring coincided with FIFA forcing the FFA to separate the A-League which gave the nix certainty in their future. The owners have publicly stated that it was challenging to get investment without a future, so you'd expect an independent league would coincide with an uptick in playing budget that Rudan had to work with (and even though the Nix didn't get a marquee striker they were chasing some pretty big names at the time like Guissepe Rossi and Samuel Eto'o). Nix also had an academy that they'd been working on for years which had started to push out quality players (like Singh and Cacace).

No doubt he did a good job, and he's a great speaker and is probably really strong at man management (although the rumors are he's lost the team at Western), but there are other factors which worked in his favour along side his strengths.

Also, to me, him leaving and taking players with him isn't the big deal, the big deal was that he was stringing along the owners and the fans while he knew he was leaving, he was also making signing decisions and working for Western United while still contracted to the Phoenix.

I disagree. The Snakes are our grrrrivals now, and so shall they be forever.

And even if he was the best coach on the planet, two things to remember: 1) USB stick; 2) "listen here fudgeface"

yeah totally, club rivalries dont die just because a coach/player leaves. Thye may be the reason it started but it has created the first genuine reason to dislike another club. So much better than the conspired "distance derby"

Heartwarming story time: Doloras jnr (age 4) put on a yellow shirt to act out "the Phoenix are playing the Snakes" in the lounge. My job was to watch and be the whole YF. (Nix win 5-2 according to the little one.)

Each to their own. But to me a scenario where the head villain & all the minions have left (or retired) doesn't feel like any sort of rivalry anymore. Left smelling as contrived as a distance derby.

WU and their small collection of fans will be looking at Melb City & VUC for their grudge games, barely giving a 2nd thought to the Nix as being different to any other non Victorian club.
