They've got a tough job, what i want to see from them is a philosophy within the nix brand and competitive preformances to build upon next year

Nice write up, think some of the casual "fans" need to read this before they comment on how useless the women are on other social platforms. This season was always about development in preparation for the next one. Wins were never a target, being competitive was - and so far I think we've achieved this with plenty of room to improve more.

Agree, good write up with no fan-girling calling out one or two players. It’s a team game and they all have made a big contribution to a very challenging gig on and off the pitch.

This team has gone from a side that could look lost, outgunned and dissapointed, at times, making plenty of mistakes earlier in the season, to a determined, increasingly well organised bunch of players who look more clear about their individual roles and are still giving their all.

They're going to get a win soon. They'll deserve it and they'll be over-joyed with the buzz that gives them. They are still outgunned by the best, as the men's side also can be, but they give their best, play with great character, as a team, stay competitive mostly and they're an entertaining watch.  Doing a great job during a very challenging first season.

You're welcome to become a commercial partner and help to foot the bill to keen the stadium open if you like.
As for the performance of the women's team discussed above, I think some fans forget how long it took our men's team to become competitive. Those of us who have been here since day one would have given their right arm for years to be able to bear the Victory the way we did last night!
This season was always going to be in preparation for next year.

My only gripe - her substitutions have been too defensive at times and that has cost us.

She keeps taking off Wyndham who is our best player at keeping possession and the moment that happens we become hoof dependent and get swamped. Same with Jale, although injury and fitness probably a part of that.

The mens team in the first season was more competitive than the womens team has been (not slighting the womens team, neither team had the luxury of time to prepare but the women had less time, and presumably money). In the first season the men were only bottom on goal difference and won 5 games. But, it's funny how both the mens and womens team started with a very competitive draw which had everyone thinking they'd be surprises, only to language at the bottom of the table.

Mm and the women just finished bottom only on goal difference with 2 wins in far less games...

When did I write that comment? The comment was true at the time - they had yet to win a game and had had multiple drubbings.

Context is important.

Arrggh, that would be terrible. I was wondering why the signings had dried up though.

Heard a few more rumours today that Gemma is officially leaving to head back home. They are currently in the process of looking for a replacement. Massive loss for the club. Hopefully Gareth Turnbull or Leon Birnie can take over.

Truly unfortunate if that's the case, the re-signings of McMeeken, Wisnewski and Pritchard looked like a good sign.

Be really crap. If Lewis fills up all the available NZ roster spots then leaves. Leaving the more difficult Aussie roster spots to fill.
If she knew she was leaving then should have left some NZ spots open for the new coach to pick their own team.
Last selection in particular I wasn't a big fan of. Thought there were better option.

I don't think I saw Gemma in Taupo at NZSS Premier Girls which I thought was odd.  Chloe Knott was there incognito as I think her sister was playing.

Re: Leon Birnie he'd have the U17s next month.

That's just crap by Lewis. Lots of time and faith put into Lewis by NZF. Giving her these opportunities. Club and international.
And she had already signed a contract for this coming season !!!!
Hope they bring in a NZer to assist Lawrence. (Lawarence is a Brit)
Alana Gunn or someone with similar womens coaching experience.

Also now potentially going to make it more difficult to attract Aussies to Wellington. With a seemingly unknown and unsettled coaching team.

Not sure about this. Lawrence would have been involved in the signings and has worked with nearly all of them. It's not like she's been in the dark about it at all, and her and Lewis would have discussed this as it has gone on for a while. Europe is kind of the holy grail for women's football at the moment, it's a bit different than moving to another ALW club.

Think we will be fine on attracting Aussies, it will have little effect. Lawrence has a pretty solid CV of her own and worked with Lewis and the team for last year.

Disappointing move by Lewis, especially only a couple of months out from the season.
Also, Lawrence may be a brit but she's been here a very long time.
If someone was needed to help her out, it wouldn't be because of the nationality.
But I don't think this will happen as they announced her as the first team coach, not caretaker or similar

Watching her at the practices, Nat is doing a very good job. They squad is looking sharp and is bonding really well.
