Yeah just watched the highlights, which are better quality than the stream I had and I woudn't blame him actually, more the goal keeper if anything.

Good highlights on youtube - Man Bell is class, can definitely see him playing Premier League in the next few years.

Stensness not at fault for the goal IMO, just an unfortunate clash between him and the goalkeeper. Good signs for NZ football in the Norwegian league..

jeez, just took a look at the highlights and he instigated almost every chance Viking had, including all three of their goals. some player

Viking don’t get the hype of the big clubs Molde or Rosenborg, or the hipsters’ team from the Arctic Circle Bodø/Glimt, but they’ve been the best team in the league since he came back from Tokyo and are certainly shots at the title and he’s at the middle of that. He’s the best player in the league and is carrying them potentially towards a  first title since 1991, and then he’ll be sold in January to the biggest bidder, so good on him for staying. Just think though, imagine being the team to dump him for Rufer/Ridenton/McGlinchey…
Phoenix didn't dump him. He was offered a contract but he always wanted to go to the college route to ensure he had a back up to football.

More dip and swerve on those crosses than a lazy Tim Southee out-swinger. Would put money on him to deliver a cross and land it on a dime - just seems to hit his target at will 🎯

From this week's Flying Kiwis.

3-1 was the final score which means that VFK have taken 13 points from their last five games and are only one point off third place. Five assists now for Joe Bell – there’s only two blokes in the whole competition with more (Gjermund Åsen & Magnus Wolff Eikrem) and suffice to say that neither of them are defensive midfielders.

I've seen the game. Joe Bell was consistently high quality throughout.  He has improved immensely, even since the Olympics.
I would suggest he can still make gains.

Full games both Bell (with a yellow) & Stensness, as Viking beat fellow Eliteserien side Rosenberg 3-1 in the NM Cupen, 3rd Round.

Another big game in the league this weekend away at 2nd placed Molde, who are 6 pts ahead of Viking (6th). Top 3 sides make Europe.

Another day, another Joe Bell assist. That's six on the season for him now (along with his lone goal). Great returns for a player sitting deep in the heart of midfield.

Credited with an assist for Viking's first goal, as they twice came back from a goal down to get a point at Molde.

Yipe a 2-2 draw, against Molde (2nd). Viking (6th) still in the running for a Euro spot, 5 pts off Rosenborg in 3rd spot. 10 rounds left.

Note Stensness played as a CB (as part of a back 3 like Olywhites mostly did at Tokyo), so hopefully he doesn't walk out on Viking if not played as a DM soon.

Viking had their keeper sent off early at 18 mins (score 0-0).

They are 2 points off the Euro spots (top 3) with 9 games left, though 4 teams above all have a game in hand.

Another Joe Bell assist, as he helps Viking to a 1-0 over Strømsgodset.

7 assists on the season for Bell now. Viking stay in 5th.

If anyone can tell me how I can embed highlights videos in posts too (that aren't from YouTube) then that would be great as well.

It's interesting that Stensness has been the one compared to Jedinak, by his former coach at Mariners.

Are we sure Stensness can change allegience to Australia?

Didn't he do that already to join our U20 side after being in other Aussie age group teams.

I thought you could only change once, even at youth level??

And if he wasn't allowed to change, should he be allowed back in??

He did not make a formal change to play for New Zealand in 2019.

How does that work...

So players can move between countries at a whim with no process needed at age group level? WOW if that is the case.

It means he didn't actually play any 'proper' age-group international football.

Full games both Bell and that other guy as Viking (3rd) win 2-0 at Brann (14th).
Viking 3rd (a Europe spot) with 6 games left, and 2 points clear of Rosenborg in 4th.

With Bodø / Glimt 7 points ahead atop the table, Viking winning title is a long shot.

Subbed off with 40 seconds of added time remaining away in a 2-0 win in the Vestlandsderby in Bergen against Brann.

Another man of the match rating for Bell in the 6 position in absolutely torrential rain in the western fjords. Conditions directly causing both goals for Viking, first a dropped ball by the keeper at a set piece, and second, the ball getting turned over after getting stuck in a puddle. Not an easy game as passes would stop dead in the puddles, so a lot of aerial balls played.

Good matchday for Viking, as Rosenborg (3rd going into the round) only managed a draw away at Viking’s other local rivals, 8th placed Haugesund, and Molde lost 2-0 at home to champions Bodø/Glimt in a top-spot 6 pointer. So now with 6 games to go Viking sit 3rd, 2 points ahead of Rosenborg, and 3 behind Molde, in a Europa Conference League spot, though whether Bell would be there is yet to be seen.

Next game is home to 13th placed Sarpsborg on Monday at 6am. Onefootball has the international rights for Eliteserien (which includes everywhere except Scandinavia) and half a dozen other minor European leagues to watch for free if anyone faces a watch.

I think Joe has a lot more energy and mobility than Mooy.  Though not as technical I think Joe is and is overall, a bigger contributor.

May have dodged a bullet in not joining Barnsley in the championship this season. Despite a good season last year now firmly in the relegation zone.

Hope he moves in January to a mid table championship or even one pressing for the top 6.

Think after two years in Norway playing pro football he is ready for a step up

Euro spot pretty much sewed up with 2 games left and a 6 pt gap on 4th placed Lillestrom

Bodø / Glimt stymied for a week re locking in title with 0-0 draw at Rosenberg. Molde 2nd and 3 points behind still have hope

But Bodø / Glimt host bottom team Brann next week
