As like his mate Just, signed a professional contract, so worthy of his own thread.

From this week's Flying Kiwis.

"Lookin\u2019 great boys!

Young players out there paving the way, showing that View image on Twitter

Just and Wilkins have signed on three year deals and will join the club in July once they’re done with the U20 World Cup with plenty of time to get a full preseason in. The curious thing about Helsingør is that a couple months ago they were purchased by a group of Americans looking to provide American players a pathway into European football… pretty much the same as what Ole Academy have done with Torslanda in Sweden. Now they’ve signed two Ole Academy heroes to get things going. Sounds like those parallel ventures got the two parties talking and one thing led to another. Just and Wilkins had been trialling with the club since April, while Callum McCowatt was also there and naturally they were keen on getting him locked in too but CMC’s waiting ‘til after the U20 World Cup to assess his next direction.

Thrilled that we have signed Eli Just & Dalton Wilkins out of the @TheOleWay
Academy in New Zealand! Both players are fantastic young footballers who will be w/ New Zealand U-20 National Team heading to Poland for the World Cup later this month
https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/world-game/112529493/ol-academy-footballers-eli-just-and-dalton-wilkins-join-americanbacked-danish-club …

Dalton Wilkins: “We have been in Denmark for a while, and it has been very positive. People are hugely sweet up here. I don't think I've met a single person who hasn't been kind and welcoming. The people of the club and the other players have taken tremendous good to us. We have already learned the first Danish words as "thank you" and of course some football expressions such as ‘back’ and ‘alone’.”

FCH Director Janus Kyhl: “Both Dalton and "Eli", as he is just called, are some hard-working players who can run the sun black. They are both creative, modern players who are very flexible. Eli can play all the seats across the centre, and Dalton is a modern wingback that manages the edge as well and can also play in the central defence. They are both players I expect are in play for our first team already next season.”

Helsingør managed a 3-3 draw. Team above, Hvidovre lost to Nikko Boxall’s Viborg, but are still 3 points above Helsingør with one round left.

Both finish with games against teams above them. Helsingør (play at home) have better GD, so can survive the drop if they win and Hvidovre lose (play away).

Danish 1st Division season finished today. Helsingor have been relegated to the 2nd Division.

Needed to win and have Hvidovre to lose to stay up, and was looking good at H/T as Helsingor were 1-0 up and Hvidovre were 2-0 down.

As it transpired, Helsingor ended up losing 2-1 with both goals conceded inside the last 10 minutes, while Hvidovre came back to draw 2-2 and claim the point they needed to survive.

Disappointing for Helsingor, but presents an opportunity for both Dalton-Wilkins and Just to step in to the first XI fold come next season, albeit at a level lower than they were probably hoping for.

Makes his starting debut as Helsingør lose their unbeaten record with a 2-1 loss at BrønshøjFC.

Wilkins replaced after 66 mins by his mate Just.

https://www.translatetheweb.com/?from=&to=en&ref=SERP&refd=www.bing.com&dl=en&rr=UC&a=https%3a%2f%2ffchelsingor.dk%2f

"After 12 minutes of play, Dalton Wilkins, who played instead of a little-injured Anders Holst, laid the ball in to Jeppe Kjær on the edge of the field. Dalton's beautiful post cheated a Brønshøj defender, but Jeppe Kjær could not completely control the ball, and the chance ran out into the sand."

"After a quarter, FCH got free kick outside the left side of the Brønshøj field. Norouzi sent the ball, but it was cleared out of the field. Here, Dalton stood ready, and he took a move towards the field, where a Brønshøj player stuck the leg. Dalton bed in the grass, but the judge estimated that there had been too long between contact and fall, and Dalton had to collect a warning for film."

"After 66 minutes, Dalton Wilkins went out and was replaced by Eli Just."

"Eli Just pulled the ball into the field, and put it across to Jeppe Kjær, who unfortunately got on the wrong side of the ball, and then a Brønshøj defender could set foot on and send the ball quietly past the post and out. It did not seem that Jeppe Kjær had to perceive how free he was."

Good news Wilkins back from long term injury. Subbed on at 66 mins as Helsingør come from 2-0 down to draw their last game of the season 2-2 at
Esbjerg
(3rd).

Score 2-1 when Wilkins came on. Full game Eli Just. No mention of McCowatt or Liam Jordan. Helsingør finish season 4th.

Opposite, Dalton Wilkins stood completely free in the box, but like his colleague at the other end, Dalton chopped the ball past goal, instead of just kicking it in. But after being out for almost a year, it might have been understandable if the footballing skills were a bit rusty with the young New Zealander.

In other news Jordan has made the South African squad for the Olympics. So little Helsingor likely to have 3 players in Tokyo. Maybe even 4 if Wilkins now comes into the frame for OlyWhites (but he's likely behind Cacace, Mcgarry & even Sutton now).

New season kicks off on a positive note for Helsingør with a 1-0 win over Fremad Amager.

Wilkins subbed on in the 86th minute. Good to see him back in the mix after injury troubles limited playing time for him last season.

Just and McCowatt will no doubt have been following from Tokyo.

Makes his debut for 3rd tier (2nd Division) Kolding IF, in the DBU Pokalen (Danish Cup).

Came on at 67 mins (score 1-0), in a 2-1 win over Esbjerg fB from the 2nd tier (1st Division). Game went to ET.

Kolding IF are bottom of the 2nd Division. Hopefully Wilkins can help them avoid relegation.

Good move for him this. Long injury lay off last season and even coming back into this season he still managed to get himself a couple of games off the bench and a start in the Cup before this loan.

Shows he's maybe not a million miles away from at least being in contention at Helsingør. Hopefully he remains injury free, gets lots of minutes and helps Kolding IF after their poor start this season, and then we wait and see what next season brings.

Liked the look of him when he was in the u20 set up.

Typical Ole player, good technically and a bit of swagger about him. Kid must be desperate for decent minutes after losing a year of footy!

Good to see him make an instant impact.

Wonder if Wilkins is still having issues with bad injury (knee?) he got about a year ago.

On the bench as Kolding (9th) won 1-0 at Thisted (3rd). No idea if Wilkins got on.

Presume he's been out injured, but surely needs to be playing now regularly at this level (Danish 3rd tier), to justify Hay picking him ahead of say Francis de Vries.

Unfortunately for Wilkins only 4 more games until the winter break - season resuming mid March 2022!

So has a year out with Helsingor injured. Recovers gets loaned out to Kolding in the 3rd tier, gets injured again, misses AWs games in Bahrain, returns from injury, gets sent off, likely suspended for next 1-2 club games, then returns for last 2-3 club games before season goes into a 3.5 month winter break (restarts mid March 2022!).

He'll be champing at the bit to debut for the AWs in Abu Dhabi if Hay picks him.

His red card previous game rescinded?

Started and got 65 mins (score 2-0 when came off) in a 3-0 loss at Aarhus Fremad (5th). Kolding 9th.

Bit strange noted as unavailable for AWs as injured, when he's played last 2 club games. But Francis de Vries deserves a chance anyway.

Edit - Kolding have drawn top tier Superliga side Vejle in the Danish Cup quarters. 2 legged tie to be played early December. So few extra club games for Wilkins to impress Hay, before long winter break until March 2022.

Wilkins with the 2nd goal, as Kolding win 5-0. Responding to de Vries being picked ahead of him for AWs?
23' Dalton receiving it in the left side, dribbling into the field and scoring 2-0 for sure!!!

Another start in a 0-0 draw at Hillerød (2nd) in the Danish 3rd tier.

Kolding (10th) have their 2 legged Danish Cup tie against Superliga Vejle, in early December then their winter break.

Understand Hay is now in Scandinavia watching Kiwis in action, plus catching up with old mate Declan.

No doubt Wilkins putting a few starts together recently keeps him in the AWs frame. That LB backup spot to Cacace now looking very competitive. Francis de Vries, Wilkins. Mcgarry & Sutton from the A League. Will be a tough choice for Hay.

Is why I like idea of him picking a large say 30 man squad for OFC tourney, which will likely have a congested schedule - and can get some of his fringe candidates to basically go head to head.

80 mins for Wilkins, as 3rd tier Kolding beat Superliga side Vejle 2-1, the 2nd leg of their Danish Cup QF. Same score when the Kiwi came off. An overall comfortable 6-3 aggregate win to Vejle.

So the year finished for Wilkins and Kolding, with 3rd tier season to resume March 2022 after long winter break.

I presume that Wilkins, along with his Ole mates like Stamenic, McCowatt & Just will just hang around Europe. Not worth going through 2 weeks NZ MIQ if they are to be involved in the AWs friendlies in the January window? Maybe head down to Portugal with Pijnaker for awhile, keeping fit & warmest.

Another Kiwi making a permanent move. Signs a 2 1/2 year deal.

Had an unfortunate time at Helsingør in regards to serious injuries and slipping down the pecking order - that is what tends to happen, especially if you're a youngster just trying to make your way in the game.

Good luck to him 👏

Good luck to him, but a bit of a ho hum announcement to be fair, especially being a 2.5 yr deal.

Kolding appear to only be a mid table side in Danish 3rd tier. Currently 10th of 12 teams. Though they did play 19/20 & 20/21 seasons in 2nd tier.

This is considering that Wilkins's Ole peers McCowatt & Just could well be playing Danish Superliga next season.

But I guess after a serious long term knee injury (was it an ACL?) is just good that he's playing regularly. And if he does well, he will sign somewhere else at a higher level.

But must be behind Francis De Vries (Swedish top tier) and McGarry/Sutton you'd think as backup LB to Libby.
