From this week's Flying Kiwis. Olivia Chance to Celtic.

Plus Emma Rolston to Norway, and Paige Satchell to Sydney FC (W League).

https://theniche-cache.com/football/2021/8/17/flying-kiwis-august-17

Unless a W League team is announced soon, alot of unattached Football Ferns will have signed elsewhere before a women's Nix side is ready. Stupid virus.

Rebekah Stott seems to be winning her battle against cancer and has been signed by Melbourne City - what an amazing comeback!!!!!
And now Hannah Wilkinson has also signed for Melbourne City this week.....

Coached by former Phoenix assistant Rado Vidosic, father of Dario.
That makes four Kiwis in the W-League now, no doubt with more to be announced before the league kicks off mid-November.

Katie Rood has left Lewes in the English second tier Championship for Southampton in the third tier.
But they seem an ambitious club intent on the top flight and were only founded in 2017, gaining promotion to the National League South (third tier) for this season.

Obviously helps that she is married to the women's team head coach.

Western Sydney taking advantage of  Football Australia agreeing to fund the minimum salary of one Kiwi player at each of the Australian clubs:

"With Wanderers signing Steinmetz, Adelaide United, Brisbane Roar, Canberra, and the Newcastle Jets are the four clubs yet to take advantage of that support, though it is understood at least one of them has been exploring Kiwi options."

Steinmetz and her Wanderers are set to begin their A-League Women campaign against the Wellington Phoenix, Friday, December 3 on their league debut.

Great to see Hannah W. fulfilling her potential after a bad run with injuries, clubs not working out etc.
Hope that she can transfer that goal-scoring form to the Ferns to answer her critics (I've met a few who have moaned about her not being an effective striker for the Ferns).

Ali Riley has signed on as a foundation player for the new high-profile Los Angeles franchise in the US women's top tier, Angel City FC:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_City_FC
I remember the team at launch even making the 6 pm TV news here in NZ due to its starry high-profile ownership group which includes Serena Williams, Natalie Portman, Billie Jean King, Jessica Chastain, America Ferrera, Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria, Mia Hamm and James Corden.

LA has been without a professional women's side in the US top tier since 2010.
And Ali R. was born there and grew up there so she must be stoked about it.

From Flying Kiwis. Joins Chance & Rood in Scotland.
I imagine the Scottish league is a fair bit weaker than the English WSL. Moore was released by Liverpool after they got promoted to the WSL.

This is a pretty massive transfer as Glasgow City are the powerhouse club in Scottish women’s footy. The rise of Rangers and Celtic over the last couple years has threatened that, with Celtic winning both domestic cups last season and Rangers taking the league title – but prior to that Glasgow City had won an incredible fourteen consecutive SWPL titles. Between 2012-2015 they won four trebles in a row claiming every available trophy.

While they only finished second last time around, second is still good enough to make the Champions League qualifiers – something that club is extremely used to. Last season they won through the first qualifying round tourney but fell 3-2 to Servette Chenois of Switzerland in the subsequent tie to miss out on the group stage. But they’ll be at it again soon enough with Meikayla Moore in tow this time. Mouse will wear the #18 jersey. She joins after two seasons with Liverpool in the English second tier. Didn’t get a heap of game-time last term so hopefully that changes in Glasgow, particularly ahead of a World Cup year.

Good to see Katie Bowen finally get a start for NCC. In a 3-0 win against Orlando Pride. Looks like she played CB instead of Abbey Erceg, who was not in match day squad.
Played the full 90min also.

That’s a well sponsored jersey, plus some other product placement CR7 wouldn’t approve of.

But good to see a young Kiwi female sign overseas.
