Friend just called to say that he spotted car this morning, bridge onto SH2 at Petone, with Man U number plate. Bet it livened up the journey to work!

Yep, banter can be in short supply after a loss, must say your mate sounds like an adrenaline junky - wonder if he'll have another go after the return match?

Next he's gonna try wearing a Celtic jersey and sit with the Rangers faithful at Ibrox.

REAL MADRID have signed Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze.

The Argentina defender has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal.

Heinze, 29, had made it clear he wanted to leave Old Trafford but his attempt to force a move to Liverpool failed when a Premier League arbitration panel refused his request.

Adriano has stated that he doesnt want to move on loan and is looking for a permanent deal and Captain Nev is still a fair way away after suffering a setback in training last week. Personally do not think it would be in the clubs best interests to persure personalities like Anelka, Martins & Adriano although they are all qualitiy players i think the disruption would outweigh the rewards. We need someone like Smudge,  Viduka would have been perfect....

Saturday's match will be the 122nd between United and Sunderland. Historically, the Reds have the upper hand, especially in recent years. Since the Premier League's inception, the Black Cats have yet to register a win at Old Trafford.

Form guide: After a dramatic opening-day win over Tottenham, Roy Keane's men have managed just one further point. Their last two league games have yielded nothing at all. Meanwhile, United registered a first win of the season last weekend. Luck may have smiled on the Reds, but after three games of total domination and little to show for it, a little luck was certainly due...

Ins and outs: Sunderland will be without Dean Whitehead (knee) and Carlos Edwards (hamstring), while Kieran Richardson (back) is also a doubt. New signing Andrew Cole isn't match-fit yet but defender Paul McShane (head) should start, despite not featuring in the Black Cats' midweek Carling Cup tie. United fans may see Brazilian midfielder Anderson for the first time, while Louis Saha is tipped for a spot on the bench. Cristiano Ronaldo (suspended) and Wayne Rooney (foot) are still out, as is skipper Gary Neville (thigh).

Star men: Owen Hargreaves is already showing signs that he'll flourish in the Reds' midfield, while Sunderland goalkeeper and record signing Craig Gordon will need to continue his recent good form if the visitors are to cause an Old Trafford upset.

Yeah, I think United should win, hopefully the attack will start gelling better soon. Its looked quite disjointed and disappointing this year so far. Obviously all the new signings will make it difficult...but thats what pre-season matches are for. Any way GO UNITED!!

And to think United should have had a first half penalty as well, mind you the penalty we did get was a bit lucky. I would have been gutted if Chelsea got a penalty decision like that.

At least the first team is doing the business in the Premiership. I would take the treble again this year...someone else can have the Carling Cup.

i have grave fears about this year, although things are looking brighter, the best thing is our defence is looking very strong at the mo, and the attack can only get better, so theres a good thing. However with the state of the prem at the mo i think that unless we can keep winning no one will be able to keep up with Arsenal, they are looking amazing this year and it could turn into a 2 horse race if man u keeps winning, unless Liverpool decide they actually want to get somewhere in the prem and stop drawing. also Manchester City for the top 4..

i think arsenal are doing well because they have needed to improve vastley although ur right, if man u dnt start winning and getting their goal diff sorted out they will need a miracle to win this year. winning 7 or 8 games 1 nil can only help them so much as opposed to arsenal winning 3 nil

A wins a win, winning games by big scores may look good, but realistically goal difference won't count for much come the end of the season- I don't think (and I'm happy to be proven wrong...) that theres been a time since the premierships inception where 1st and 2nd has been decided with points differential. We should just be happy with the fact we're winning- more than can be said for those Chelsea pricks!

Didn't Blackburn win the league on goal difference?

Michael Carrick has been ruled out for up to six weeks after fracturing his elbow during the Champions League match against Roma on Tuesday.

His injury is a major blow for United who are already without Hargreaves (knee) and Fletcher (leg).
Will be a good opportunity for SAF to give Anderson some more gametime.

Na just checked they beat us by a point in 94-95 (we had the better GD if it would have come to it). So likelihood is if we keep winning we'll be up there at the business end- need to beat Arsenal or I am going to get hell from the flatties. sh*thouse to hear about Carrick, another , just what the doctor ordered!

gutted about carrick, i think he's totally underrated, and overlooked when royalties towards united are given, especially in terms of wiining the prem last year. His Distribution is brilliant and more than justifies his large transfer fee, great player. Goal difference won't matter too much this year, last year it was important probably more mentaly as it gave SAF that breathing space and ability to just remind Chelea every once and a while that they can't just equal us. i get the feeling sooner or later the points are gonna share themselves out a lot more than last season, with places 2-8ish all being extremely close. Arsenal to keep going the way there going tho
