Not having seen FC2011 play this year, is there a real possibility that they will struggle to beat most CCL clubs aswell in the next round?

With their 1sts or reserves not winning a game all season they’d want to get some results or next year will prove just as difficult as this year

A couple of years ago they seemed to be going alright with a good group of younger players under Glenn Lapslie & they now also don’t have a WPL side, how did such a large club seem to get it so wrong?

Do these suspensions roll over to the Southern League or do they stay until next years MPL?

I believe all cards carry over to the Southern Football and for that matter the promotion / relegaton league (CCL clubs and the bottom three MPL clubs).

I do not have one.

After the Burnside - Avon merger there was a lot of big talk. 

Tsetso went to China to buy years worth of kit.

The #1 pitch got the FIFA U20 upgrade.  

Good junior numbers, kids coming through in men’s and women’s game.   

Things were looking good but...

Slava started taking kids from the north west for his Yarldhurst academy.

The Board appointed the disaster McMann

Tsetso left. And other club stalwarts got disillusioned. 

Nomads started turning things around.

I think the fc20 board lacked good strategy, but I’d love to hear from someone at the club. 

What do we think will be the plan from Mainland next weekend? Does SI league kick into gear straight away? 

Yes it's supposed to kick off next weekend, there was a draft draw but nothing official as yet. If anyone has a copy I'd love to see it to book my trip to the balmy and beautiful city of Dunedin. 

OUAFC v Cashmere Technical on the 30th, so i'm guessing everyone else will have games too. Let it begin!

As a born and bred Cantabrian and someone who grew up watching Christchurch Utd in the National League of the 70s and 80s, I can't think of anything that would make me happier than see Nelson stuff your bunch of mercenaries right up the jacksie. Well, I don't actually want to see it, because that would require me to come to your plastic fantastic ground and listen to your two supporters spout gibberish all game. I just need to hear about it.

And if you happen to win (and let's be fair, the money the business has invested has bought a decent side), c'est la vie. I really don't care.

Interesting that you should be so upset about somebody being progressive. It interests me that other clubs have attacked CHCH united when the top teams in mpl and wmpl have players attracted from other clubs. In the women's premier waimak would be very strong if they had their players back from the top clubs. And let's face it football the world around sees clubs wishing to be successful and buying it. Chelsea and Manchester City come to mind.

I certainly don't think the CHCH united model is perfect but if people ain't pregressive and don't try thing we would all be at home been keyboard warriors and still kicking heavy wet leather balls.

Define progressive for me. Then explain how that aligns with the CFA model.

Introducing a pathway for its junior players of ability that was not there before, Oscar has already used this pathway and more to come. The previous CFA model had no connection to seniors and if I'm been honest last year's and the previous group were a collection from other clubs that offered no support to junior players coming through.

Get over yourselves and take a look at your own clubs. From what I see nomads and fc2011 have progressed juniors to mpl more than the others. The rest are players over the years moving for success(or not in coastal case).

It seems that when united was successful in the 80's you were all happy for the overseas players to be at your club.

Isnt the EPL a pro league tho. I thought the mainland league was amateur? I think the primary concern everyone has is that something more than "come join us" has been said to entice players to the club. Certainly not a level playing field especially for clubs like Burwood, or Parklands. Might wrong of course (see Tui billboard)

I agree that it's not a pro league but then we all know that's a crock of sharke, other clubs are dropping cash around as per the press article 10 days ago. I ain't saying it's perfect but the model that has been run for years hasn't helped us produce the players it should. Success rubs off, so while my son is unlikely to have that success I see plenty of players at united that have futures. Now it just about getting the less financial these opportunities. FTC in April was $200.00 plus uniform for the equivalent of 2 days involvement over 3 days from 26 kids per age(boys). There is plenty of families that cannot afford this either and it's again this holidays and then NAGS if your lucky at another $900. To bad if it's the next Messi waiting you won't be able to afford it. As far as I can tell both NZFOOTBALL AND MAINLANDS MODEL IS BROKEN TO SOME EXTENT.

And I must add I have no evidence of the so call player payments only the here say on here.

Introducing a pathway for your own junior players is not new to most clubs and not 'progressive' just normal, it should be there as a standard operation. All other teams are doing it. Having one junior make a debut this year is not progressive, many other clubs have introduced a lot more. My sons senior team has 3 players from their U17 squad last season playing regularley this season - nothing flash in that as it should be this way.

If CFA get promoted (well, when) they won't select from youth teams, they will buy in more players for the MPL.

CFA are free to do as they please (within rules) but don't try and convince anyone it is anything other than what we all see.

Not trying to, from my point of view it's the same as at least 3 other MPL clubs are with players. But they are going out of their way to creat opportunities that other clubs are not locally. Arrangement with Sydney united to name one. Sure you can send all your players to pheonix but there's no difference. And Oscar is only just 115 and has been with the club since inception and I don't see another talent at this age in mainland with so much to offer. Not my place to say anymore about Oscar but watch this space

I hope Oscar had Mainland clearance - I thought you had to be 16 to play seniors? Hope he does well and gets opportunities to play.

Dear Oscar's Dad. 

We admire your son's achievements and your public acknowledgement of this. 

He may very well be a product of a great junior structure, but the biggest achievement may be forcing his way into a team which is pretty much entirely made up of MPL players from last season, along with one of Canterbury's most prominent coaches. 

To boast about the great development and future of the club would best be held until those players start coming through, and the $300 per week and $5k bonus the others are getting ceases.
