If they're financially unstable, will the owners' group be keen to take over the league and potentially have to prop them up themselves? It brings a new layer of risk that they would need to consider as part of the independent league discussions.
If they fail before the new season starts, is there a triggering clause in the contract with Fox which would give them the opportunity to re-negotiate the TV deal (and any re-negotiation in this context would likely mean less money for the league from Fox)?
These are not the kind of questions you want occupying the APFCA minds in the midst of NLWG discussions if you're a Nix fan.
In the new league scenario, WU, if not solvent, is given the axe and another owner/group/club that is solvent takes their place. While not ideal, there is no need to prop up a failing entity if there are others able to step in.

Yep that's the plan once the league is presumably up and running. But in the context of current commercial agreements, that is more easily said and done. You don't really want to kick off the whole thing with an FFA albatross hung around your neck.

With today's signing of Vujica from Newy I'd say thats probably the end of Aussie recruitment for the Bitumens. Brings their squad size to 19 with 4 import spots left, they'd be mad not to use them too given how their team has shaped up so far. I know they have a few good players but looking at that it doesn't exactly strike fear into anyone.

WMG plans to begin construction on the stadium by about this time next year, having struck a deal with the council to gain access for the land. Driving the deal has been Kate Roffey, an experienced sports and business executive appointed by Wyndham City Council to chase deals that will act as catalysts for economic growth in the region.
“There is a lot of housing and not so many facilities nearby,” said Mr Bisetto. “So Kate’s role has been to find projects like ours that bring people to it, rather them having to work or go to sport in the city.”

A planned $180 million soccer stadium in Melbourne’s west will be the first major facility privately built for an Australian team and is set to have the steepest gradient in the country and a distinctive roof modelled on its local area.
A-League expansion team Western United, which will enter the competition for the 2019-20 season beginning in October, is finalising plans for the stadium they want to be playing at during the 2021-22 season in the western suburb of Tarneit.Western United management is finalising plans for the project, which will be built by construction giant Probuild and is set to be funded by the proceeds of nearby residential property projects, including in some high-density areas, and underpinned by a commercial zone which will sit adjacent the 15,000-seat arena.
A nearby railway station is also planned, with a town centre potentially being developed by the council. Investors could emerge with ownership of assets worth tens or hundreds of millions more than their initial outlay.
It could make annual profits and investors could later sell their stakes for capital gains. It is hoped the entire project will be built within about six years.
