Crusaders. Expect more of Designworks tbh.
Branding: Fails, Wins, and Jury is Out
Should never have changed it. PC gone mad.
I like it. Must say I had never associated the brand Crusaders with an anti-muslum meaning, but never thought about it really.
I like their proverb. Very appropriate.

Why Patrick? What does Rugby have to do with what that racist nutcase did? A recent Hurricane killed a fair few people, should we ask Wellington to change their name?
The best thing would have to be not change a thing, that way that racist nutcase gets no credibility. Right now,he has won another battle for his sick cause.
You really don't see an issue with a team from Christchurch whose imaginary and name reflects the history repercussions of Muslims?
This is a problem well before March.
Demographics R US
Designworks did this?? I must say the flat red and black logo with no white outline I've seen on the Crusaders website looks much better than that faux 3d thing.
But really they should've gone all in and changed the Crusaders name as well.
It's always been problematic, people have been naive to its meaning and the imagery associated with the logo, but after the events in March people quite rightly said actually it's not appropriate and should have something more inclusive.

Having worked with Designworks on a number of projects, I’d be surprised if their advice wasn’t simply ignored by NZRFU. I bet it doesn’t turn up on their portfolio.
Crusaders' logo change not good enough - Bidwell

A hurricane is a natural disaster.
The crusades indiscriminately killed thousands of people, men, women and children based on their religion. He has not won a battle with this.
The previous logo was literally of a knight who's job it was to kill as many Muslims as possible to take the holy land back to Christian control.
Whenever I see "PC gone mad" all I can really see is "change scares me and I don't understand the wider connotations"
According to detractors, it's "just a name" so really, no one should care if it changes or not, as long as they still play rugby.

The Point of it was to either convert or murder non christians, not just muslims. Still no excuse for it but you cannot change history. It was a fact. What do you make of Persons carrying a suicide vest into Christian areas with the distinct motive of killing as many people as they can? Do you endorse that behaviour?

It was just a logo. The intent was not to offend but to say that this team would be battlers so to speak. Ever since day 1 of Super Rugby, I doubt if anyone involved in it, thought of it as you have suggested.
Whenever I see "PC gone mad" all I can really see is "change scares me and I don't understand the wider connotations"
Quite the opposite. Through age and experience sometimes you can see that somethings are to be taken quite seriously and others not. Going by this observation you could argue that anything and everything done should not be, because someone some where could possibly be offended. y whole point was that it was a rugby thing, not an issue targeting Muslims in this country. There used to be a say that Sport & Politics should not mix. It is a good point, sadly lost on some.

Total bollocks
If there was a team called Suicide Bombers playing out of Baghdad you might have a point LG.
You're just digging yourself into a bigger hole this way.
Don't listen too much to Zenith_SEM for starts, but...
...it was quite rightly pointed out on Twitter back when the MacArthur logo was released, that MacArthur got their branding wrong from the start by going down the "Bull" path (even though it's an animal associated with the area) especially when you look at it from the W-League side of their club.
There are a couple of clubs that have visual identities/brands based around what would be considered stereotypically masculine - but that really doesn't work for clubs with both mens and womens teams and definitely shouldn't be implemented in the first place by new expansion teams.
And don't get me started on the MacArthur crest design, it's a total clusterbiff.
I definitely think there is a broader conversation about franchise names, how fans interact with these brands, and it's effects on society - especially with rugby and the hard-man image it tries to convey.
That all sounds like PC gone made Christo
I was definitely made by Mac.
Crusaders.
A brand is more than just a name; or a logo; or colours. Designworks (but lets get real here, NZRFU) only addressed the logo; so you have a bad start, with an incongruent approach right there.
Any good brand "hangs together" - typeface, colours, shape, name etc. This does not.
Crusaders name and meaning - "crusading for good". Lol. It's a rugby team FFS. This is just pure post-rationalisation and deflection.
Stylised C (using Maori culture inspired typeface, hmm). Peak of Southern Alps to depths of moana - visual representation that doesn't specifically identify geographic location of the brand - Timaru to West Coast to Top of the South. Those words could equally apply to Otago/Southland (I won't even start on the flaccid dildo on a mirror design of the portrait representation or the penis head shape of the landscape version).
"With Red. With Black. We can Achieve". Really? That's the essence of the brand summed up in words? I'd expect more insightful and in-depth thinking from junior GG's primary school project.
Branding opinion: FAIL
Lets get some wins going in this thread.
The FedEx logo.
The Amazon logo.
The could have gone the "Prince" way guys - to be known as "The team formerly known as the Cruisaders".
Just trying to lighten it up a little.
The vegan pork pie range won't be stocked in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire
Underground supply
"The document added that if customers in the town ask for the vegan variety, staff must direct them to customer services who will arrange a home delivery."
Apparently the MacDonalds Vege Burgers are not actually Vege Burgers.
And they exists:
