Xavi, Inneista and Messi work OK, no "shielders" in there. I like the fact that McGlinchy and Kosta are both busy players even though they are not going to pull off any traditional NZ sliding tackles. I think busy players are better defensively that holding midfielders who don't move much anyway. I thought Killen worked pretty well against Fiji, his passing was fairly good.

I'm guessing that McGee will follow the ball more, Killen deeper and Kosta pushing a bit higher. I think you will usually see two at more or less the same depth though, not sure if that is what you mean from that formation.

Yes, there is a bit of a difference in class along with the fact Barca retain a bit more possession. But it was more a comment on the need for having multiple holding midfielders. I don't think you need any. Defence works best when there are 4 or 5 players working hard together at the same time to shut the opposition down and I just don't think that is something we do well at all.

Is anyone else having the stream stutter AGAIN?

About once every 60 seconds the video freezes and the audio repeats for about 5 seconds.

I assumed they would fix it after the first time!

i rate locheads deliveries as i do bertos. i am happy with his defending as well. but passing ball distribution...no. and he is on 6 now.

we are getting opened up when they attack. how ever when we go forward, we all go in one line and then go for the long ball or 1st time ball.

i wish we had a bit more possesion in these games. let the ball do the running and ncl the chasing. I kind of always accepted  tthat our possesion was never our main advantage against the better teams in the world. but actually it doesnt seem to change what ever level we are playing?

Completely agree hes been rubbish this tourney command to his Brissy days. For those bagging killy he just saved us with that clearance. Leo having one of his not so good days. I'm getting annoyed that we keep playing hopefull long balls to the guys up front, resulting in us constantly losing possession. Look how sharp NC look when they play the ball forward on the ground.

In case anyone is wondering...

1999 Four Nations Tournament in Thailand, we drew 2-2 with Thailand and then lost 3-4 on penalties.  That was followed by a 0-0 draw with Poland, and we lost 4-5 on penalties.

Apart from getting carded, what has he done wrong, apart from being on the receiving end of a physical battering? He's made some good crosses.

But we've established in previous matches that the long-ball game serves us well against these teams whom we give away some pace to. Every time that ball goes near Woodsy we're two seconds away from a goal.
