Kris Carpenter - Waitakere United - Yeah ambitious, but watched him play for Rovers and he is just quality.

Can i ask what was going through your head when you typed out this passage of your post?

Lol didn't say it was gonna be realistic. But I rate him as a player.

Really? How many games have you seen him play... The last time I saw him playing he was playing for Glenfield reserves

really? Does Hudson know? Rush him into the starting 11 then!

Don't think you would have seen him in the reserves, considering I play there and he hasn't been with us all season.

Heard he won POTY at Rovers prizegiving last night. Fair play.

Three for me, and two for them.

Doyle, Declan Wynne and Tuiloma are injured and wont be able to make the squad

So 18 in the squad usually.

Think Hudson will go with.

Gleeson
Marinovic

Colvey
Durante
Reid
Tzimopoulos
Fenton
Boxall

Cameron
Hudson-Wihongi
Lewis
McGlinchey
Ridenton

Barbarouses
Rojas
Smeltz
Thomas
Wood

Wait, forgot Colvey is injured. Probably end up with 3 at the back.

I reckon Glen Moss makes it

Isn't Fenton injured too?

Played in the weekend so perhaps ok? Otherwise we have no fullbacks.

Fenton just isn't a fullback.....but I presume Roux will be playing? (or is he injured?) I'm surprised a mid-tier Euro team hasn't come sniffing for Roux, he's class. Maybe another year of A-League to get over the injury.

Watched Birko v Glenfield last week Hogg plays left back hell he's quick and good 1v1 defender would Hudson not consider him ?  the boy Carpenter was ok as well it will be interesting to see if they play summer football. Checked Hogg's Wikipedia it says he plays for amicable  and that he's played 6 times for AWs and not lost, good omen But Hudson will play Boxall at RB and Roux at LB

Hogg is a good player too - I'd rate him above the ever-injured Doyle. I'd have a Roux/Hogg duo, but dreams are free.

Roux came on for CCM in Nelson.

Hudsons 18 i think; gleeson, marinovic, boxall, reid (c), durante, adams, doyle, tzimipoulos, mcglinchey, ridenton, dyer, lewis, hudson-wihongi, rojas, thomas, smeltz, wood & barbarouses

I hope Gleeson starts one of the matches. Marinovic has been pristine but at the end of the day MLS > German fourth-tier.

Former Walsall youth and reserve team player along with his identical twin brother Dan who also plays for Cashmere Tech and has also played for Canterbury United.

Grandfather was a German POW during WW II who stayed on and married an English girl.

Dan has lived in NZ a while but I don't think he has citizenship or a NZ passport.

His longtime girlfriend's a Kiwi so it looks like he's set to stay here though.

I'd have Craig Henderson in a squad of NZ players who are decent but not likely to be selected - as long as he was fit, which he has been this current Swedish season. His entire pro career has been in the Swedish top flight and the Norwegian top flight before this season, which is a much better level than many players in Hudson's selections.

And as a Cantabrian, my reflex action is to mention Aaron Clapham of course....

Doyle out injured for the October friendlies so who will be selected at left-back?

Also, Rory Fallon has been talking in interviews this week as if he is Hudson's plans for the coming World Cup qualifiers.

And Henry Cameron is back from injury and has made appearances for Blackpool's first team recently, so you'd think he'll get a look in.

My take.

3 GK: Marinovic, Gleeson, Moss

6+? DF: Reid, Durante, Tzimi, Boxall, Adams, Fenton, (Graham, Wynne, Colvey)

8 MF: Hudson-Wihongi, McGlinchey, Lewis, Rojas, Thomas, Barbarouses, Cameron, (Ridenton)

3 FW: Wood, Fallon, Smeltz

Not sure why a seemingly fit Roux is apparently not going to be picked - sort of the thing I'd think the Nix would get worked up about.

To get to five Phoenix players (assuming Fenton comes in for Doyle) it's either Moss or Ridenton. Unless Fenton was already there anyway and so it's neither Moss or Ridenton. But would they take 3 keepers - usually been 2 in the past outside tournaments, and Marinovic/Moss would be harsh on Gleeson. Come down on 3.

If only because Hudson's singled him out by name recently, Liam Graham might be a shout, especially given the fullback injuries?

Wynne/Colvey both America-based and Wynne at least on track to be fit by time of games so maybe they make it anyway.

Took 22 players for Thailand/China at the end of 2014; 22 for South Korea in March 2015; 21 for Myanmar last Oct, and 19 for Oman last Nov. Patterson/Rogerson/Dyer/Prelevic/Brotherton probably next cabs off the rank, and who knows maybe Tyler Boyd is back in the frame?

I think they will pick 22-23 (and rightly so) as Hudson just gets so little time with his AWs players - and who knows come the qualifiers later in the year who will be & who won't be available.

There are some who will be picked, whom he won't have coached for nearly 12 months (Oman game), or more.

A squad of 22 also gives him the option of nearly fully opposed training sessions.

Roux, Cameron, Reid amd Smeltz apparently all in. I do hope Reid is there for once especially considering opposition

Liam Graham is according to this article and this one as-well.

All Whites squad to be named tomorrow  .

Also apparently Albert Rirea is eligible soon.

Even though I'm a fan of Rory, I personally hope he doesn't get picked.  He's playing at a level now that is lower then the SSP, nor has he been setting the league alight.  Surely with Wood, Smeltz, Barbs and maybe Watson there's no need for him to travel.

Who's going to representing Unattached FC in this squad?  James?

Yet Ben Harris came from the sixth tier of English football and won the SSP golden boot last season.

I found Fallons comments odd. I assumed he was in the OFC as a one off due to the a sense of senior players and the need for leadership. At the OFC he showed he's not up to it physically- he never was quick but was vey very slow. Still has nouse and experience and it was great of him to play but it's another thing entirely to put him in a qualifier.

Graham is interesting. Does League One stop for the window? If not is it in his best interests to be selected given he's only just made the first team (through injury). I feel we need to be careful with players after what happened to Bill T during and after the u23's.

Gleeson has to be selected. He's ranked number one GK in the MLS by some points based system. Marinovic picks himself so I'm not 100% on whether Moss is going to be in the side. I don't think he made a very good first impression.

If they are friendlies can we field Riera anyway? Ie if we are expecting his paperwork to be signed and there is nothing on the line can he be fielded or does that have implications? Just a thought as would be a good chance to introduce him to route one football as he hasn't played that at ACFC or the Nix. Am sure someone in here knows the FIFA regs on that.

Ben was far too good for that tier and had offers from clubs in higher divisions when he came here. He was initially planning on returning to one of those after his season with Richmond Athletic, but both Canterbury Utd and Team Wellington shoulder tapped him and now it looks like we've got him trapped here for a while! I definitely think he's got the quality to break into the Nix, just maybe not as an import so he'd have to hang around awhile to get there.

League 1 teams can request for games to be postponed if a certain number of players are called up for international duty. One of the articles higher up suggests Chesterfield  are considering it as they also have players called up to Irish and Scottish age group teams.
