It's interesting that they didn't manage to get to Japan/Korea in that era. Definite underachievement there at least.
Probably because they are poverty stricken dirt poor. Have had a succession of shark presidents, coups etc. Then they had a massive earthquake (I think was post 2002), that to this day they are still struggling to recover from. Tragic country really. I imagine if you are a decent young footballer, you try emigrate as quickly as you can.
