Garnett is a very strange one. Is he closer to the first team squad and possibly even game time then it appears? 

Otherwise I don’t really get the clubs stance

But if you mean Garbett, then do remember that when he signed in Italy, Torino said all going well, they planned he would move up from the U19s to be in & around the first team squad sometime early 2022. So maybe that is actually happening??

Hard to know who our full backs will be, especially on the left with Cacace not there (and no Kirwan/Elliot/Fenton on the right). Also not sure if Payne is a likely CD or right full back under Hay.

I reckon for sure Hay is going to try him at RB in these friendlies. Why would he bother picking Niko Boxall if Payne was solely seen as a CB.

And Payne will know RB is likely his best shot at cracking a full strength AWs 23 man squad, even starting 11.

Lot of quality CB competition but RB is wide open.
