I don't think the All Whites lose much without Wood. When was the last time we beat a non-OFC team with him starting? He has to give 100% of himself to stay and compete at PL level and has basically nothing left for the All Whites when he is fit enough to play for us. I wish he would realise he is past his peak, will never again attain the levels he has reached in the past at club level, and will take a step down to a less intense league so he can have some extra longevity when his Forest contract runs out in May.
He’s been as fit as he’s ever been in the last two years and has the benefit of a PL conditioning machine.
It’ll be a big ask to find that one last run of form, but far from impossible.
Last full season he played was one of his best. But the important thing there was Elanga and Gibbs-White were in synch with him. Assists overflowing.
Great player of course. When he does retire from the All Whites though, will they change formation?
