I had a feeling this would happen.  But nobody would believe me.

Baz was all smiles as we missed a couple of opportunities early on.

It’s not going to be all smiles and giggles if we bottle this

This is Baz. I guarantee his half time speech is “Keep going lads, don’t panic”.

He’s completely inept and hasn’t got a clue.

Hats off to NC. Excellent game management by them. They are compact, very well organised and have some skill on the ball. NZ look flat, no urgency or spark. Kiwis are being too slow in the final third. When you are faced with a low block go over the top, get some diagonal balls into Wood.

I wouldn't be so worried if their goalkeeper was having a blinder, but outside of set pieces we've created fudge all. Garbett, McCowatt, Bell, Payne and Boxall have all been pretty poor for me.

Shouldn’t take the big games away from the home of football.

New Caledonia are organised and intellegent.

Which means our technical has to be damn good to break them down, but there's been no proper output from our players in an attacking sense and a couple of our lads are being shown up for their lack of technical footballing ability.

Honestly, a pretty rubbish performance so far.

Wood too.  Let’s be honest.

The only decent player for us on the ball tonight has been Bindon

he seems to be reading things well defensively too. one step ahead of the others.

Yeah that's true, but regardless he's never coming off. I wouldn't mind any of those others getting hooked at half time. I know Baz has said he's not gonna do it, but for fudges sake, if you're gonna rely on set pieces and breaks for opportunities - push Libby up into the attacking third, and take Garbett off for de Vries to whip in some quality balls

It's frustrating there isn't VAR for a game with such significance.

I wish McCowatt and Garbett had proved me wrong, I wasn't happy to see their names in the starting XI. But they've been average like they were on Friday.

Now Chris Chang and Ricki Herbert are muted on the broadcast. Everything going wrong

"We beat Fiji 11-0. Then lose the "Battle of the Garden of Eden 1-0. Headlines, recriminations, resignations etc."

Well, I got the first score wrong...

Get Rogerson on for MacCowett. Move Libby up to left midfield and get de Vries on at LB to get some crosses into Wood. More urgency. If NC nick a goal this could get interesting

If NC do nick a goal, I don’t have confidence we can break down their very deep low block after that first half.

I imagine NC will tire a bit in this 2nd half - that much defending takes a toll

I'm glad that Baze eventually showed some decisiveness and did what needed to be done in taking Garbett and McCowatt off. But they shouldn't have started and it might have cost us that they did.

We are making them look like world beaters.

This reminds me how bad we have been outside ofc. Where we can't score...

NC are technically way better than anyone was expecting of an OFC team. Good IQ, commitment and technical skills honestly.

we changed out tactics to bomb crosses in and our only target has gone
oh, and he's chris wood
are we now doomed?
one thing's for sure NC can nnow attack because our chances of scoring have just plummeted

45 minutes wasted. although mccowatt tried hard. neither had the quality required.
