Ernie Merick works for FA he is not in any way here talking to NZ football.
Hays contract is now up. I don't see the issue with NZF taking there time before they decide on there best way forward regarding the coach. And they are correct in not making any reactionary opinionated public comment prior to doing an independent review.
Not unusual at this point in the cycle to advertise the coaches job ask Hay to re-apply if he wants, see who else might have interest, considering we will very likely be at the next world cup, have young talent coming through. and then make an educated decision based on who applies and what they bring to the table.
Why wouldn't you put it out there. Take your time, reflect on the last cycle and try and set yourself up for the next cycle better with the best possible set up and plan.

Edit. If that means missing one international window in leu of not having to make a rushed decision then so be it.
On top of that NZF comments on games going forwrad.
“The All Whites will play in the first official FIFA window following the World Cup and consistently thereafter as we begin our build up to the 2024 Olympics and 2026 World Cup.”
They have also stated that they want to have more home games in this next cycle.
I'm not sure what some people are complaining about on this thread.
