I've waited for a few days before commenting on this situation, and to be honest I'm slightly surprised that not many are sharing my view.
Look, I have no idea what was said, nor the finer details of this situation.
But if it was a racial slur, I'm not entirely convinced that walking off the pitch was the right thing to do. By walking off the pitch, you're almost validating and empowering the racist remarks that were made. You've given all of the power to the player/team that made the remarks.
Is it not better to go out there and thrash the opposition in the second half, walk away with your heads held high, and elevate yourself above what has happened? Be the bigger 'person', so to speak.
I support the team, and maybe I'm wrong, but I'm also happy to offer a fresh perspective.
